Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOur booking had said there was a "private" kitchen--but it was communal. It also advertised a balcony, which we could not find (presumably somewhere on the floor; clearly not part of our room itself). The photos for our booking suggested a much larger space than we recieved: the bed could fold into a twin, which gave us plenty of space during the day, but when we pulled it out at night... it took up most of the floor. Two shared toilets: one dry, which doubles as a storage closet (VERY small) and one wet (i.e. the shower). This washroom is also fairly small, and the drain wasn't at the best angle. Wear shoes (or slippers--provided) to use the toilet. Water pressure was super weak on the first day, although it got steadily stronger over the course of our trip...?
Great views and sunlight! Generally very tidy and quiet, although there seemed to be several other guests (we didn't see much of them). Close to the tourist center, and very easy to get to by bus from the airport (the bus dropped us off about a block away).

GreeceThe only negative was that it was at 5th floor with narrow stairs and no elevator. The bathroom is in the kitchen area, not in the room but only for us, very small but very clean. Very old building, but well maintained apartment.
The host is very kind and helpful, shared information on where to go, what to see and where to eat and also stories from the past. The room is in the very center of the city, just 5 minutes walking from the Piata Unirii. Bed was comfortable, WiFi was fine, window view is better than average.

SpainIt's the last floor and it might be very hot in summer. The property has no elevator, which was not a problem for us but might be problematic for other travellers.
The place is in a great location, very convenient to explore the city centre. The room and bathroom were very clean.

Czech RepublicToilet was moving and is combined with a shower, felt a bit cramped. Quite a hot in the room, sleeping with opened window was a necessity.
Communication in english very good. Interesting story behind this particular room, shared by the host. Great view from the room and possibility to sit on the "balcony". Plus great location close to the old city, ideal to explore by foot. Romanian beer as a welcome gift.

AustraliaThe private kitchen and bathroom was down the hallway which was a bit annoying. The shower had mould in it and the kitchen was not well stocked with utensils or plates, cutlery etc. No kettle. Washing machine was broken (luckily I was able to use a machine in another kitchen).
I booked the large double room particularly for the aircon which worked well. The bed was comfortable and the flat is about a 10 minute walk to the old town. I appreciated the complimentary bottle of Prosecco on arrival. Mihai was an excellent host and really into explaining about the history of the building.

CyprusYou have to climb a lot of stairs to reach the appartment, and in some places, the stairs are very narrow, living little place to place your feet. About the appartment, you have your own room, but there are some shared spaces (like the kitchen, and the main hallway), with the others that are living in the same appartment as you, but in different rooms. The last one might not be an issue for most people, it is just good to know it in advance.
It is in a very good postion inside the town. The owner is very good, and always ready to help if you have any issue. Although the room is a bit old, it is very clean. You have a good view from the window.

United KingdomWe didn't like the bathroom because of the discomfort of showering and the stairs when going up to the fifth floor and I have missed a mirror in the room.
We liked the location and that it was very connected to public transport to move around the city, the closets and the brightness of the room.

United KingdomIt suited me but the room is quite small (still room for a desk, 2 chairs and wardrobe). There are 87 steps up to the apartment which might be a problem for some.
Excellent location near airport bus stop on Piata Unirii so near the old town. Clean and warm room. Very good shower in separate bathroom and useful to have access to the kitchen.. there's a Carrefour nearby too. United KingdomAs others have mentioned, the stairs to the flat are very steep. You have your own bathroom but it is down the corridor from your bedroom. The bed is a 'pull out' type that is fine for a single person but takes up quite a large amount of the room when you pull it out to make a double.
This is a room in a shared house in the centre of Bucharest - within walking distance of most of the sights, although public transport links are great.

GreeceKeep in mind that the rooms are located on the 5th floor and there is no elevetor. We didn't have any problem with that, but some people might not find it comfortable.
Although the room was quite small for 2 people, the overall experience was great. We loved how welcoming and helpful was the host with all of our questions about Bucharest. I believe this accommodation is ideal for single travelers or group of friends, since the whole atmosphere reminded me of student accommodation at university. There is also a common kitchen where you can prepare quick meals, your beverages or keep your stuff in the fridge. Also, the location is central and you have easy access to the historical center and other amenities. We really enjoyed our stay there. 😊

CyprusNothing I can think of as per my expectations.
The flat was very nice, extremely clean and the owner is very friendly and gave even the history of building - hint: see the name of the facility. One little thing: as this is the top floor, climbing five sets of stairs may be a little too demanding for some. Other than that I'd surely recommend. =)
