Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo kettle in room to make tea or coffee. Staff were grumpy. I had booked 3 nights on booking.com and an extra night separately and paid via bank transfer a month before. Staff made me prove by showing my bank account I had paid for that night. Surely their account should have showed I had paid a month before. Wasn't a nice experience.
Location was good, property and building were pretty and clean.

United KingdomWas a little difficult to find in the dark and down a road which didn’t feel particularly safe in the dark. You also have to wait for someone to open the gate for you as there is no self access so when we got back from dinner we had to wait for about 10 minutes for someone to let us in. We even tried calling the number on the gate but no one answered so we just had to keep buzzing the bell. For this reason I wouldn’t stay again which is a shame as the room was beautiful
The room was absolutely stunning and only a short walk to the old town. Very clean with good facilities.

SwitzerlandThe check in was late. For a 4 star hotel, it's really bad. Also, the room was on the ground floor. For the intimacy, it's not very good. Aside of the check in being late, I couldn't get the key to the hotel, so my room stayed opened while the staff woman kept telling me "don't worry everything is safe, there are cameras" When I started to ask more information about why it was late and how to get my key, they staff person couldn't stop interrupting me while i was talking. It was very rude and she looked shocked when I started being mad about it. Impossible to enter the hotel during the night without ringing and waiting for the staff to open the door. Not professional at all, not worth 4 star.

CanadaNo kettle, coffee, tea provided in the room or in the lobby. Staff were not readily available so getting a coffee at breakfast or getting somebody to open the front gate required patience. Shower door and shower head were broken. I told reception somebody needed to screw the shower head on but nothing was done about it. The shower did not drain well either.
Breakfast was excellent, if only guests had direct access to the espresso machine rather than waiting around for absent staff to appear. Room was spacious and well furnished.

RomaniaSadly, the hotel is poorly managed. The bathroom was flooded everytime even with the curtain. The bathroom courtain was thorn apart The towels were smelly and of the lowest quality. The bed placement in the room was exactly at the bathroom entrance, although it could have been in the other living space. There was a scented candle that was alreafy used by the previous tourists and just left there. When I told this to the receptionist, she blamed the owner and started to tell me the history of the place. A good hotel with extremely uninterested staff and management. Not recommended !
The location of the hotel is in the city centre The arhitecture of the hotel and the interior is full of history

NorwayRoom quality and amenities did not match the description on the booking.com page. There is a long list of amenities, but it looks like this is a collection of all the amenities the different rooms and the public areas may have, and this is copied and pasted into each room description - at least for the category we booked which was a superior double room. Very disappointing. The advertised channel TV/Satelite TV did not have a single english language news channel. The only international news channel was in French. All other channels were Romanian with the exception of possibly the History Channel and one unknown channel. In our first room, curtains could not be opened more than a few centimeters thus very difficult to let some daylight in. No heating in a very cold bathroom. This was remedied by the kind night receptionist who found us a portable heater. When requesting assistance, the receptionist (polite and friendly, but spoke only a minimum of English) gave us the phone number for the manager. The number was not answered, but when the receptionist called the same number he answered, but the manager refused to talk to us. After sending a written complaint via the booking.com app, we received an answer the following morning that we would be given a different room (actually upgrade, but the standard was the same). We had asked for a different room already on day one, but this was refused by the manager. In the hotel description, it was mentioned a gourmet restaurant on the premises. This was closed long since and the staff had no knowledge of it. While the breakfast restaurant looked nice, it was difficult to find any staff. The coffee was lukewarm and the hot dishes the same. In short; nice facilities, clean enough, but in need of improvements in both rooms and service. Fix the description to tune down expectations, adjust the rates accordingly and support your staff with available and service minded management.
The hotel has a very good location, a short walk from the old town as well as close to some excellent restaurants.

MexicoThe room wasn't ready when we arrived at 5 pm. Then they never cleaned. We found a little bug in the room. The night staff was watching videos at the reception sofa, next to our room, so I had to go out to ask him to be quiet so we could sleep. The doors into the hotel were always closed for safety, but staff wasn't always at reception to open them and let us out.

PortugalThe bar zone wasn't really working, as the person doing its service is also the receptionist, who appeared to have several functions on the hotel. This seemed to be an issue, as besides seeing the reception empty several times (the exit gate is controlled by the reception), I noticed that the breakfast (which is paid separately), didn't really have a working service (the lady attending this was also having several other functions at the same time). The breakfast itself wasn't rich on either choice or amount. Both this and the visible lack of personnel, don't go in line on how the hotel looks like, making it appear a considerable flaw in a four star hotel. Despite all this, the hotel itself still has a charm of its own, and I can't help feeling that this is not explored properly (the restaurant only works for breakfast, even though it has such a nice ambience for meals)
Well located, to visit the old center and access the metro. I liked the decoration on both the room and the hotel, as well as the comfort of the bed and the balcony

AustraliaOn the positive side, the hotel is beautifully decorated, with a very stylistic romanian offering and the junior staff are very polite.
Unfortunately very loud and noisy, no sleep, especially during the night. They overcharged the room rates (so look at the charges before paying!), and even wanted to charge 11 euro's for a broken wine glass, then proceeded to want to charge me for late checkout despite me being early! Also, i paid for breakfast, however they did not have tea and then proceeded to bill me for the tea seperately! They also wanted to be informed of the late night noise before rather than after it occurred... I rather think perhaps they should be telling their customers this first . The owner was unhelpful and discourteous, very petty, and tried to charge customers for their inadequate offerings.

United StatesOld furniture, drapes, everything. I know it’s supposed to be “vintage”, but too tired. The biggest issue, when we booked the stay, we thought breakfast was included. When we arrived, we were asked if our reservation included breakfast. We said yes. All 3 days we ate breakfast there, no one said a word . As we were leaving at At 5 Am, and were in a hurry, we were told we we owed an other 320 RON… That is unprofessional, and we felt we were tricked. Not sure, if I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. Thank you

United KingdomThe staff could have come straight from central casting of Fawlty Towers. On arrival I was told to close the door and that I was late. Flight delayed so out of my hands and I did email the hotel to advise them. This was disputed! I was eventually shown to my room on the 3rd floor with no attempt to assist me with my baggage. I was expected to carry the bags up the stairs by myself. When you try to leave the hotel the staff tend to forget to open the gates to the street so you have to go back inside and shout to ask them to open the gates.
Lovely Room. The Shower in the bathroom was ok but it flooded the bathroom quite quickly even with the screen close and the shower curtain in place. There is an electrical outlet socket next to the bath and a hair dryer available to plug in which means a risk of electrocution to any one in the bath or using the wash basins. The sinks have push down plugs to fill the basin with water so as to wash or shave but the plugs refuse to stop the water from draining away. Room 7. Lovely Balcony and the decor is amazing.

IrelandThe worst bed I’ve ever slept(sorry not slept in), it looked 5 star but it creaked so noisily with the slightest movement that you’d have to be deaf or a corpse to get a decent sleep. Also the staff were shouting at each other before 7am so if you did manage to nod off they would have woken you up. Also the staff have to open the security gates to let you in and out but it took 10 minutes for them to let myself and other guests in on the first day as he was playing the piano and didn’t hear the bell ringing multiple times and then we had to repeatedly ask to be let out at checkout, ignored, and grunted at and nearly missed our train due to the slowness of the receptionist in the morning. the restaurant only serves breakfast and no other meals plus whilst the cold buffet had a lot of choice and was beautifully presented unfortunately the eggs were cold and sausage so overcooked it was inedible, we were looking forward to relaxing with a cocktail in the evening but there was no bartender on duty so despite cocktails being on the menu the night porter could only offer us wine, beer or coffee! I rarely give negative feedback but we got better service in budget hotels for half the price during our Romanian trip that I felt I needed to be honest. This hotel is definitely style over substance.
The decor was opulent and charming, the little touches such as the complimentary sweets & toiletries help make the stay a bit more special. the Sri lanken night porter was lovely and helpful.

RussiaWe expected a bit more help from the staff with the bags and suitcases, because our room was on the top floor and there was no elevator in the hotel. Really we would be happy if anyone at least suggested helping, but it didn't happen. Also the kitchen part of the room (located behind the inside doors) had a terrible smell (pipes or something else). We didn't use it often, however for such a nice hotel it's a very disappointing detail. Additionally, maybe we came too late, but we found only leftovers of the breakfast and we didn't notice anyone planning to refill it. Unfortunately, something was also wrong with the water in the coffee pot, it was smelly and we could drink it at all. Breakfast is definitely a point to improve. My last comment will be about the room cleaning. By the time the cleaning reached our room it was already 4-5 pm, we usually came back from the town tired and had to refuse the room service.
The overall unique interior of our "Concerto" room. The location is also very convenient and close to the city centre. Also the room and the hotel are very quiet.

United KingdomWe were put in a room right by the main entrance , public toilet and reception where you could hear people loudly talking, shouting, banging and hear the toilet being flushed all through the night which was joined to our room, so we didn't sleep well every single night as this kept us awake. If you are offered this room ask them to change it straight away!

United Kingdomthe entrance to the property is gated, unfortunately that means you have to buzz to be let in or out when coming and going. There was one afternoon where we spoke with another guest who had been trying to get out for some minutes and was being made late to an appointment because there was nobody on the desk to operate. I would suggest that buzzer fobs for the gate come with the room keys… it feels a bit infantilising to be asked to be let in and out. There is no kettle in the rooms, which was a surprise, when we got in we wanted to/ are used to being able to make a cup of tea in the room before bed. It seemed an odd omission. We had put the do not disturb sign on because had left laptops out etc however when we got back to hotel, the cleaner had come in anyway.
the property is beautifully decorated, and very well located, we were able to walk to all our sight seeing destinations. The breakfast was very good and staff were attentive.
