How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Excellent services, as usual. I booked a room for my mother-in-law, who travelled for her regular cancer treatment. So, friendly people, comfort and peace of mind are essential not only for her but also for us because we are a few thousand miles away.

The staff was very kind. My room was above my expectation, so I was satisfied. I recommend Vila Vidalis for everyone, close to the Center.

Lots of noise from the traffic, late in thr night and early in the morning...
Very close to the hospital. Comfy bed, clean room. Place to park.

I wouldn't say I disliked it, but the bed mattresses were a bit too soft for us. Both my mom and I have back pain which firm mattresses are advised for, but again this was something personal not something we necessarily disliked.
Very friendly staff. Property was easy to find and we found parking spots despite having forgotten to announce it ahead of time. Room was very clean and warm.

The small lamps by the bed had white and dim light, not quite pleasant or enough to read or rest

Very good communication with hotel. Full instructions whats appd to me to be able to get into the hotel at midnight. Breakfast OK and cooked to order. Room was smallish but clean, modern and bed and shower good. Location not bad. About 30 minutes walk from railway station, 10 minutes walk from centre of town. Botanic garden and park nearby. 10/15 minutes walk to trams, buses nearby.

Breakfast was a bit poor. The building faces a busy road, so it can get a noisy at times.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very central location to visit the city on foot. Private parking has been a very convenient extra as there isn't much parking space in the area. Modern and comfortable bathrooms.

To be honest, everything was perfect, we loved our experience.
We had a very nice welcoming by the vila staff, they provided us with a free parking spot, the room was spacious and comfy, the lady serving breakfast in the morning was lovely, we felt that she put alot of love into her food, we felt like we were home, we highly recommend 🥰🥰

the best thing about this hotel is the location. George was really primordial in making our stay outstanding. He tried his best in every way to make our stay better.

The bathroom is small but still it's clean and with all the facilities

The room was in the manzard and there was no mosquito fence so we could not open the window in the night. The airconditioning was just in front of the bed so we could not turn it on, and I hardly could sleep because of the heat.
Good location, about 5 minutes walk from the center. We had a big terrace. Nice staff.

The smell in the room was really strange and unpleasant, but probably it's a problem of an old building.
The personnel was very kind and helpful. We had a late check-in, so they easily helped us to access the room via texts. The location is great, very close to the city center and botanical garden. The room was not big, but cozy.

The interior spaces (halls, access) have not been renovated for some time. In one room the water was stuck on the ultra hot position, in the other it was very cold. Goes for one night, uncomfortable if you stay for several days.
Very good location, very close to the center. Comfortable, clean room. Parking right in the yard, enough space. The guy at the reception very kind.
