Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAlthough the property is the perfect blend of indoor/outdoor spaces and the ocean breeze is lovely, the house does get warm. We had to have the fans on full blast at night and we still weren’t fully comfortable. This shouldn’t be a deal breaker, just sharing for those who run hot like we do.
Lakaz An Bwa is one of the most serene and lovely self-catering properties at which my family and I have had the pleasure to stay. The “wood house” is gorgeous and well-made and set the stage for our enjoyable stay on La Digue. Though the property is outside of town, we thought the location was perfect and nothing on this island is very far away - we greatly enjoyed our daily bike rides into town and to the various beaches. The property was well stocked with all the utensils and equipment you might need. The caretakers where always available to answer any questions and provide support. Thank you Veronique, Gerald, Cassius, and Helene for a memorable stay.

United Statesthe ONLY real challenge we could note is that there is no AC (as the house is designed to be completely open). Although the vast majority of the time the house felt very comfortable temperature wise, there were a couple of nights where we were a little warm. Despite that, we positively loved it there, and would definitely still recommend and stay there again.
This house is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures. it really is the, “cherry on top,” of staying in paradise, and just feels perfect. All 5 of oh my family members loved it just as much. the hosts really seemed to think of everything. It’s a little away from the main village, which made it feel even more relaxed and peaceful - yet only 10-15 min by bike from everything in town. We would definitely stay there again, and would highly recommend.

NetherlandsThe biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning, which forced us to keep doors and windows constantly open to get some cooling. We knew this in advance, but driven by the positive reviews we took the risk. The children's rooms were extremely warm and we as parents found ourselves in bed with the kids and took cold showers at 3AM to cool down a bit. You are surrounded by nature and of course that’s something special, but keep in mind that you will be surrounded by insects and the absence of screens and open design of the house means that insects and other small animals could easily enter the home. Expect at least a dozen mosquito bites per person if you stay here for a few days. These two downsides meant that we didn’t have such a good nights of sleep. I would recommend the owners to install screens in front of the windows and doors and add one fan in each of the small rooms.
You can see this house has been built with love. Many small details have been taken care of. The presence of European electrical outlets was very convenient, which isn’t always a given in holiday homes in the Seychelles. Moreover, the house was beautifully designed in a Balinese style, creating a unique and atmospheric ambiance. The showers were also of good quality, which is always a welcome amenity. The kitchen was fully equipped with all necessary appliances, including a washing machine and dishwasher, and there were ample cutlery and glasses available. This made meal preparation very easy. Another major plus was the beautiful location of the property, right by the sea, which provided breathtaking views. Beach access is from the public road with steps that will lead you to the beach.
