Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaLack of cutlery just is totally unexpected when one is staying in a hostel, and really unfair! No personal storage space at all, neither lockable nor unlockable can be a problem if it's needed for security reasons.
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, great shower facilities with private changing area in each cubicle; in a good area and very close to old town plus train & bus stations too.

SwitzerlandStaff was really rushing a bit much to explain everything at check-in, I had to run back to reception to ask a question because the staff immediately ran off. There should also be more space to just hang out, a couch or something would be nice.
Just your basic hostel with all the basic amenities, nothing special but it works. Showers were freshly renovated and everything was clean and in working order.

United KingdomSeems overpriced for the facilities it offers. The same key is used to unlock the front door, room door and your locker - seems unsafe.
Great location to see a lot of the main tourist attractions. Spacious toilets and separate showers.

PolandThe windows were locked and I couldn't get fresh air in the room, even with only 5 people it was very stuffy. Also the fact that you need to have 10€ for a towel deposit seems strange, either don't provide the mandatory towel or leave out the deposit. I was a bit cold in the night, because the duvet was so small and thin.
This hostel is perfectly located, just right next to the Old Town, but in a silent alley. It was very clean and quite well maintained. Free coffee and tea, microwave in the corridor. Bathrooms were very clean, the showers had a place for leaving your stuff and a separate place for showering - all in a locked booth. Each bed has a lamp and a socket, lockers for luggage were spacious and they provide a key for them.

AustraliaThere was only one table with four chairs in the common corridor area outside the rooms, so really no space to sit and chill with a cup of tea or to eat breakfast if there were already a couple of people sitting there. There was a table and 6 chairs inside the room, but it was awkward to sit there because you don't want to disturb the people who are still sleeping.
The location of Turn Hostel is really good, close to both the train and bus stations for onward journeys and a lot of the main touristic attractions of Ljubljana. The beds are very comfortable and although there can be up to 14 in a room, it feels like there is enough space for everyone. The fridge in the kitchen was really handy for storing breakfast foods and leftovers. Because the pub washed all of the dishes and cutlery in a dishwasher every day, it meant that the plates, cups and utensils were always completely clean and sanitised. Bathrooms were always clean and there was plenty of hot water.

AlbaniaThe cleaning lady was not careful and entered the room several times in the morning when we were sleeping and she didn't care when I told her to come later. I did not like this behavior at all.
The person that work there Natasa was very nice and polite, she woke up during night to come and let me do late check in. Really appreciate that! Even the guy from Tetovo who works in England pub was wery nice and polite.

United KingdomThe dorm room was very hot, slept with the window open which then let in general street noise. The lights in the dorm room, ceiling and bedside are bright and shine directly into the bunk beds, privacy curtains would have made a huge difference. The hostel was pretty quite, but I could imagine it being very noisy in the height of the season, communal area is right outside the dorm rooms.
Great location, less than 5 minute walk to the Dragon Bridge and market square. 10-15 minute walk to the bus station for access to the airport.

MontenegroThe air in the room was pretty dry, but according to the house rules, we weren't able to control it, because of not being allowed to open the window (the only one in the room with constant heating, unfortunately). The staff was welcoming, but their unusual working hours during the holidays made it difficult to communicate any changes to our stay with them.
Couldn't recommend more. The hostel is located a street away from the main square, leaving you with endless possibilities for your activities while exploring Ljubljana. The room is spacious and very suitable, the beds are pleasantly comfortable and other facilities (shared bathroom, kitchen sink, fridge, etc) in great condition. The most amazing thing about my stay would definitely be the people. For my first solo trip, I couldn't have been more lucky to meet such a group of individuals and explore the city with them, as well as celebrate the entrance to the new year. (The central table in the room was an amazing asset to our process of bonding and getting to know each other :D )

New ZealandStaff weren’t very friendly on check in. My top bunk right by the door was not great and slightly dangerous as well as inconvenient as far as placement and access to locker underneath. Nearly got knocked off ladder a few times due to people opening the door to come into room. Also it’s a nightmare to get things out of your locker as it opens into room and door can’t be opened while locker open so if people in and out you have to keep stopping what you’re doing and close it up again. With 14 people in room there’s a lot of people in and out so locker access is a bit stressful. I’d recommend not using that bed/locker if possible as it is a bit dangerous.
Great location and clean.

United StatesThe mattress on my bed was weirdly rock hard and saggy/lumpy in the middle so that I felt like I was sliding into a pit. Maybe that particular mattress was just worn out. I was too tired to try pulling a mattress off a different bed and there was no one around to ask. So I didn't sleep super well. Sitting on the edge of the bed is surprisingly painful because the wooden side of the frame is taller than it looks and it cuts into your legs. There were some chairs in the room and more in the hall outside, but they were all hard and kind of rickety. So there was nowhere comfortable to sit for any length of time. Also, even in November with a window cracked open, the place felt stuffy and hot.
Good quiet hostel if you're a solo traveler and not a party animal. Female only dorms available. Clean, enough showers and toilets, good location close to city center. You check in downstairs in a very cute English-themed pub. Power outlets and lights next to each bed, and big underbed storage drawers for your stuff. The building itself is a neat old building with that kind of charm old buildings have.

NetherlandsEntrance door directly on the street, not a problem perse since it would fall in the lock. However it's quite a busy street and guests of the pub would often be very loud or smoking in front of the door. Window in the room doesn't have a curtain, bottom part is blurred glass but you can see through the top part, especially when the lights are on in the room.... this also caused street /car light to be entering the room during the entire night which is not great. Not a social hostel, no common room, no kitchen. Very hard to meet people outside of the room (might be less of an issue in the 14beds).
6 bed was pretty good, spacious room, huge bathroom and lockers. Fridge, kettle and microwave in the room. Good location close to the city center. Checking in in the pub worked great, towels included. Cleaning staff was coming in every morning (sometimes quite early)
