How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Maybe a tiny bit expensive, but for the area not too bad.
The sisters were so welcoming and lovely hosts. Confortable and quiet rooms, and a good breakfast.

Maybe, matras on the bed is rather old and not so comfortable.
Staff has been very friendly. The house in general is very clean and well maintained.

Nothing could be improved on. This is the best hostel ever. :)
Everything at Mama Minka was so perfect and we cannot wait to return another time. We were greeted by Palona, who is simply the most lovely, helpful, and energetic person ever, and everything was absolutely wonderful from that point forward. Our group of 7 adults and teens had just gotten off the trail from hut-to-hut backpacking for 5 days, so we needed to rest, do laundry, and find energy to enjoy the lake. The hostel is sparkling clean, has everything anyone could need, and both Palona and Rok went above and beyond to help us find a lost cell phone (in Lake Bled!), arrange transportation, and enjoy Lake Bohinj. The rooms are large and quiet and the neighborhood is so sweet and calm....just wonderful. We rented bikes from Mama Minka and spent a day touring the lake on designated bike paths, too. Seriously, this hostel and the caretakers are absolute gems! Cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. We loved it so much.

Such a cute hostel! Host was so accommodating after we checked in late after a big few days of hiking, so generous and the facilities are great. Lovely breakfast, good room size and one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at :)

I loved how friendly everybody was but they also respected our privacy. Breakfast was always amazing! The bathroom was clean and organized.

The hostel is very lovely, the breakfast is nice and the hosts are friendly. They've thought of everything, the kitchen is very well equipped and in the shower are shower products available.

The mattress is a bit noisy, every time we move it makes a (relatively) loud CLICK. Other than that, it is a really nice place to stay and they have an orange cat that is very beautiful and friendly, looks a bit like Garfield.
Lovely hostel, with nice hosts that make you feel at home.

I absolutely can't find anything negative apart from the beds, which unfortunately weren't comfortable for my back. We stayed in room Iris, and I believe the mattress had interesting but slightly painful strings. I'd also possibly swap the blankets and covers, as they kept twisting in the covers. However, that's all I'd change.
I love the hosts! They are so generous, easygoing, and kind. We had no problem with parking, and the breakfast was exceptional with so many options to choose from. There is a special atmosphere about the place which I truly cherish, I believe the B&B is in legacy of a family member.

Really nice contact with the owner. Beautiful location, you can go there for a nice hike. You can also relax mentally very nicely. The breakfast is great!

I highly recommend this hostel, especially if you are hiking Juliana Trail, they also offer breakfast with a lot of homemade products, which are delicious!!! Staff is really nice and friendly. Loved our stay!

Nicely located in the lovely village close to Bohinj Lake (must see!) and amazing restaurant Ema that was recommended by our host, Polona (who worked there temporarily, however she was the most amazing host we could imagine - friendly, kind, caring, helpful and whatnot). Very tasty breakfast, hot and cold beverages available 24hrs (for voluntary contribution), free parking places, possibility to rent a bike - the bikes are new, good quality, different sizes. Wonderful cycling paths around. No problems with shared bathroom availability. Whole building clean and tidy. We spend there only 2 nights on our way back from Montenegro to Poland, however now we cannot wait to visit again for longer! The views, air freshness and peaceful atmosphere of the region are just breathtaking. And Mama Minka Hostel is a cozy place to stay.
