Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Jam Lodge is the perfect choice for a stay in Freetown. Conveniently located, it has all necessary amenities: Clean, spacious rooms with a/c, comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom, fridge microwave etc. Surprisingly, my room was the quietest I ever had in Salone. Staff is friendly, a good breakfast is served on the balcony and Wi-Fi works well. And you can pay with credit card which I found extremely helpful.

BelgiumIt cost a bit more than other properties I have stayed on my African trip but was well worth few extra $ for a comfort that's comparable to a decent 3-star hotel. Bed was huge and comfy, AC worked well, good dinner on-site and nice view over Freetown. Convenient location next to a major junction (Congo Cross) so you can easily hop-on on keke (tuk-tuk) - every driver knows it. I actually walked 15-20min from a pier of the airport boat. Friendly staff, explained me very well how to get to my next destination in SL.

NetherlandsWifi did not work during the day we were there. Reception staff was neutral in their communication, not very welcoming. Cash payment needed for restaurant and bar. Maintenance can be better. Age of the building starts showing although it is very clean.
The rooms were very clean and airco worked very well. Comfortable bed.

United StatesEven though this seemed like a reasonably safe part of Freetown, the security perimeter is a bit unnerving. Rather expensive for location, but a good, clean hotel.
Breakfast was very nice. Cooked to your order. Great coffee Extra nice, friendly staff.

LuxembourgI recently had the pleasure of staying at The Jam Lodge in Freetown, Sierra Leone and I have to say it was an amazing experience. The hotel is located in a beautiful and peaceful part of the city, surrounded by lush greenery and just a short distance from some of Freetown's top attractions. The rooms at The Jam Lodge are spacious, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were modern and well-maintained. The staff at The Jam Lodge were some of the friendliest and most hospitable people I have ever met. They were always willing to go above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. Overall, I highly recommend The Jam Lodge to anyone planning a trip to Freetown. It's a wonderful hotel with great amenities and friendly staff, and it's located in a beautiful and peaceful part of the city.

Patricia managed the accomodation very well. I'd stayed before so the breakfast was what I expected coffee, 2 choices, menu of various items. Good cheerful service. The same girls who served the breakfast also did the room cleaning which was daily

United StatesI wouldn't bother with the food outside of breakfast, as it takes forever to come. The water pressure in the shower was a little hit or miss. I had a room on the ground level by the exit, so it was a little noisy at times.
This place is a great value-for-money hotel option in a convenient location. The rooms were clean and serviced daily, the breakfast was decent, and there were a couple of nice amenities (basic gym and courtyard bar area). The wifi was serviceable (though don't expect wonders), there was hot water in the showers, and I had no issues with the AC. The staff was all quite friendly as well.

United StatesEvening meals were delicious but took a long time to be served after ordering.
Breakfast was good. Balcony location was nice. But it could be better if awnings could be an option as most of the balcony was in the hot sun during breakfast.

DenmarkI had booked junior suit but they allotted me an ordinary room, on the ground floor, and the only window in the room faced a wall (may be 2 feet from window) making it claustrophobic. They did not even had courtesy to inform me and apologize for this. It was only when I pointed it out the next day asking for reason, I was given a lame excuse that a guest in the suit continued to stay. And it was only when I pointed out that rate for the room was different, it was changed. Also, their safety lock in the room is very complicated to open. I was locked-in for almost 25 minutes.
Location is not great and in fact, Jam Lodge is shown elsewhere by google map. The name of this property is "Jam Lodge Hotel". Booking.com confused me by writing only "Jam Lodge". Using google map, my car reached wrong place at 10pm in the night and then I had to call the hotel and ask for directions. So first thing first- please use correct name for this property. Breakfast was good. On the last day I had forgotten an important item in my room when I checked out. It was kept safely and my driver picked that up in 40 minutes or so after the check out.
