Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBlankets were pretty thin and it did get a bit chilly at night.
Can’t get a better location for hiking Santa Anna! Loved that we could roll out of bed, grab some quick food from the cafe on site, and join a group going for the hike. It was a huge bonus to come back and rest, shower, and drink a beer after the long hike. There was also a great little play area that our 6/4 year olds loved.

Cayman IslandsNo hot water, which is a little tough when it's so cold in the evening and morning. But at the price, it was OK.
Great location right by the start of the Santa Ana volcano hike. The hostel staff organised a house for us to start early before the crowds.

FinlandThere should be a way to call the staff as he was patrolling around and couldn't always be easily contacted.
Great location right next to the Santa Ana volcano trailhead, staying here gives you good chance of seeing the volcano crater lake without clouds! Being able to start the hike at 7AM was the only reason why we stayed here and it worked perfectly - we made it to the top before anyone else and had the place for ourselves. The room is very basic and works great for one night stay. We paid for dorm but got a private room as there was no one else in the whole place on a weekday.

NetherlandsThe shower could have been cleaner, There is no wifi nor can you cannot with your data bundle (a few steps away from the property you can connect with your data bundle though). Not a negative thing, but it can get cold here, so bring some warm clothes.
It's the perfect place to stay overnight if you want to do the Santa Ana volcano hike, so you don't need to take the 7:30 bus in the morning. The guides gather literally in front of this accommodation. The bus passes in front of the accommodation en that's also where you find a bunch of food stalls. Location couldn't be better. The bed was very comfortable too. They allow you to check out in the afternoon after the hike, which allows you to take a shower and chill until the bus arrives.

AustraliaThe upstairs room was not insulated (light enters through the roof tiles) and it was freezing cold. We requested extra blankets … for $1 each extra. There is no bottled water in the room but you can buy some at the “kiosk”. If you want an evening meal drive up the road for about 10 minutes and enter the national park. Pay the entry ($1.50 each) and you have a choice of a very upmarket resort or a cafe. The cafe closed at 7pm the night we went but the ritzy restaurant was ok (pay $2 each to enter but it’s deducted from the restaurant bill). Nice pizzas.
Guide for Volcán Santa Ana congregate at El Tibet from around 8am and head out in groups toward the ticket office then the hike itself. There are food stalls across the road great for breakfast however all stalls closed around 4pm.

GuatemalaThe hotel advertises rooms as having a "lake view" but none of the rooms actually have a lake view, since it is obscured by trees and terrain, you can get a partial view of the lake by taking the stairs up to the hotel's scenic viewpoint. The weather can get fairly cold in the night and the provided blankets are not warm enough.
Very close to Cerro Verde Natural Park, which is the main attraction in the area. A 5 minute drive will get you there from the hotel. The rooms themselves are very clean and mostly quiet. The hotel has a scenic viewpoint you can go up to.

GermanyCan be a bit cold at night because they just have thin blanket. So keep that in mind.
It's a good place to stay for a night if you are planning to climb both volcanos. The rooms are simple but clean and everything works, even the hot water. The bus from Santa Ana stops right at the place and it's basically the starting point for going to Santa Ana Volcano. There are street food places right in front for having breakfast or dinner. There is no mobile connection at all but you can go up to a viewpoint which is part of the El Tibet. There you can use your phone while having a nice view.

United StatesRusted refrigerator, light blankets for a cool location. Awful pillows. In a few words poorly kept. You need to treat it as a campground and bring your own equipment ( sleeping bags, pillows, etc.) and there is no WiFi, which was no big deal because you shouldn’t be on your phone too much in a place like this. There is phone signal.
The location is great.

SpainDirty place/dirty towels, definitely overpriced Owner super unfriendly trying to get us out of the house and into a room for no reason (asked us 3x), There's something like a kitchen but without amenities (no coffee maker/no dishwasher/ no cutlery/no pots) just a microwave and a gas stovetop, Music is playing loud all day every day, if you were expecting a quite place in nature, this is not it! Wouldn't recommend, rather go to a camping area with actual nature around you!
