Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everyone was very welcoming. The owner was full of knowledge. If you need to know anything about taking the buses, where to eat, tour, sights, then just ask. There is a kitchen you can use to cook. The shower has hot water.

United KingdomThe mattress is starting to sag a bit, but this isn't a reason to not stay there. It really is a wonderful place with wonderful people.
Luis is literally the best hostel owner I have ever met. He is so kind, and he really is the font of all knowledge. He goes out of his way to make sure your stay goes perfectly. He can tell you exactly where to get on the different buses, and where to get off them. He'll give you tips like where to eat if you visit somewhere. It was International Women's Day when I was there, and he'd bought his wife a cake to celebrate. He then shared it with all the guests because you are also part of his family and household. Everything was really clean and you felt comfortable there. The shower is hot too! I love this place.

BulgariaThe beds had a bit flimsy iron frames, so when the people in the bottom bunk were moving the top was shaking a lot and it was a bit hard to sleep.
Luis the host is one of the most caring, helpful and friendly people I have met. Very knowledgeable about all the things to do and see in the city and around it, always attentive and ready to give great advice about everything. His house, which he is sharing with travelers, is super close to Sta Ana's center, also close to the bus stops for Tazumal and Sta Ana volcano. There is a kitchen to your disposal, he can also do laundry for you (3USD per kg). The bathroom had hot water and was kept clean. The beds had AC units, however only the bottom bunks had curtains. He can also arrange various travels for you to Guatemala or Honduras.

United StatesMy only regret was not staying every night there!
Best hostel in Santa Ana, and I stayed at three! Don't expect luxury, but expect to be welcomed by the friendliest family, very helpful for tips and recommendations and they do everything to make you feel welcomed. Hostal has a kitchen, cold water to drink, warm water to shower, towels were provided, dorm was only four beds and had privacy curtains, plugs and your own light. With really big lockers! Central location, 20 min walk to the bus stations, close to center and food!

New CaledoniaThe only down side would be the breakfast which as a vegan I found too "light" not filling enough even though it was just $2: 4 small slices of fried plantains, a tablespoon of beans, half an avo and a coffee.
Cosy little homestay dorm close to the main Park. Luis was super friendly and helpful to help plan our daytrips and next destination. The 4 bed dorm is small but has everything needed and comfortable. The kitchen also is very handy!

United KingdomWe had a great time staying here in Santa Ana, great central location and really good value for money. The host Luis and his family are super welcoming and friendly. Luis is like a walking guidebook at gave us lots of info on where to eat, where to go and how to get there. They also made us a really tasty breakfast with coffee every morning - would highly recommend Casa Vieja when staying in Santa Ana.

GermanyCasa Vieja is a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay whilst visiting Santa Ana. Luis was tremendously supportive during my stay and for organizing my tour to the vulcano. He is also very knowledgeable about the town. Santa Ana is very safe. The beds are comfortable and everything is very clean. You'll be staying at a typically simple setting, but perfectly located, with a hot shower and pancakes for breakfast.

United KingdomEverything! Luis did his utmost to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The bedroom facilities had everything ticked off (bed curtains, lamp, switches). My plug socket stopped working and Luis very kindly gave me a spare to keep. The breakfast was really tasty and only $1. I would stay longer if I could.

GeorgiaOur stay here was excellent. All the reviews are spot on, Luis goes out of his way to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. He feels like family. He is certainly the most accommodating and helpful host I've ever stayed with. This is THE place to stay in Santa Ana. Definitely the best value for money. It's a very affordable place, with a beautiful and peaceful courtyard to relax in. Breakfasts are also simple, yet delicious and filling, with great coffee!! We highly recommend a stay here! The guest house even exceeded our expectations, which is hard to do, given how excellent the reviews already were.

The owner and his family were so welcoming. They truly have 'hospitality' in their blood. Nothing was too much for them. Luis is a mine of information. I wish he and his family every success in their business. Location, - very close to the plaza. Within walking distance of the different bus stations. The San Salvador bus stops a taxi ride away from the centre. Quiet. Comfortable, clean. Bunk beds have curtains, sockets and lights. Shower has hot water. Delicious pancake breakfast.
