Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMaybe a little more blankets at the bed, though the night I stayed the weather was rather mild. Also, some shampoo would be nice to have at the bathroom.
It’s a lovely guest house convenientely located in the town of Santa Ana, at striking distance from Lake Coatepeque and the spectacular Cerro Verde National Park. The owner and the staff definitely run the extra mile to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. The central patio is really comfortable and so is the terrace on the top floor. Restaurant is also very good. I would definitely stay there again .

IrelandApart from the staff and kitchen I felt the ratings and reputation were a little overrated here. It's a very nice hostel but in any other main backpacking country it would have a more average rating. The atmosphere is non existent at times here. I could see it being quite lonely if you were a solo traveller. I made friends but I'm Irish and would talk to a wall. I didn't like that there was quite a few older people here and a few families. No issues with them but a hostel is a hostel afterall.
A very well designed and thought out hostel. The free breakfast was very delicious. The owner is maybe the most helpful and friendly person I have met on my travels. A gem of a human. The kitchen would not be out of place in a restaurant. Loved the common areas with plenty of places to chill and mingle.

Great central location without being too noisy. Pool is small but beautiful. Roof terrace, though hot during the day, has great views and very breezy. Loads of hammocks around. Excellent food. Breakfast changes each morning. And of course Carlos the owner is a dream, so friendly and welcoming. Could easily have spent another few days here.

Super sweet little hostel in between the two different markets in Santa Ana. Perfect location to prepare your own food in the well equiped kitchen or to get some streetfood. Breakfast was awesome and with something different everyday. All-day coffee in the kitchen. Carlos was a dream and always has a good advice or idea for your day. The have nearly everyday a tour to the vulcano and the lake which is a good trip.

Netherlands- The being quiet after 10pm rule wasn't really enforced. It is just so busy all the time in the hostel with people talking, and unfortunately also ofter 10pm in the common areas. The area itself is not noisy. - You are not allowed to bring your own alcohol, so even for a beer you have to buy it there.
- Great hostel in a convenient location in Santa Ana with a super friendly owner who helped you with everything you needed - Great breakfast and different every day! - The kitchen has so much supplies and pots and pans, everything you needed (maybe only an oven was missing, but the toaster oven worked as well) - A swimming pool to dip in - Enough places to sit and relax - Spacious room, bed, closet space and a very good rain shower - Everything was clean in the room and the common areas were cleaned all the time. - Your own shelve in the fridge, great system! - Tips on a printed map you could take.

GermanyMr Carlos and his enthusiastic team really make you feel like home. Very nice location close to the city centre but quiet. Ample common parts (kitchen, inner courtyard, pool area, roof-top-terrace). Quick laundry service. Clean rooms and common parts thoroughout my entire stay. Very delicious offer of breakfast and dinner. Great support regarding tours to many landmarks of western El Salvador (i.e. volcano Santa Ana, Ruta de las Flores, Joya de Ceren).

United StatesStayed in a private here. A little bit more expensive than other privates in Santa Ana but worth it. Room was clean, bathroom nice. The shower was a rain style shower with the best water pressure I’ve experienced, hot water, honestly one of the best showers I’ve come across. Hammocks around the hostel were nice to chill, terrace for a few drinks with other guests. The breakfast was above and beyond with both cold and hot options that vary daily. Well stocked kitchen. Staff were really helpful. Really great hostel :)
