How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Very noisy, zero soundproofing. Breakfast not worth getting out of bed for. Receptions barely spoke English, other than one. Poor value for money.

Like often in expensive hotels, the wifi was week and i could not fill up my water bottle like in cheaper places, and its not in the historical center, quite far and no taxi available nearby, around its not nice at all

On arrival in the city from travelling in small villages across El Salvador, we explained at check-in that we needed to visit an ATM and withdraw money before advance cash payment of our bill, which they requested. We proposed doing that later in the same day, after going to the city centre to find a bank and also eat dinner. To our astonishment, the receptionist didn’t want to let us check in because of this! (Even though the hotel already had photocopies of our passports and all our credit card details to reserve the room, via Booking.com) Fortunately, we had enough leftover cash on hand, when we counted out our small change, to pay for our first nights accommodation, so check-in was allowed... But on arrival, this reaction from the receptionist was uncomfortable. It did not feel at all welcoming. In our experience travelling in El Salvador, this is not typical, and definitely not usual in most hotels where guests are trusted. More of an issue during our stay was poor soundproofing: rooms have windows onto an interior corridor/balcony which contains seating areas for guests. Conversations/voices outside made it difficult to sleep well. Finally, while close to large commercial shopping malls, the hostal is a considerable distance from any sights of tourist interest or good independent restaurants.
Comfortable beds, good shower, clean room, decent breakfast. The area felt safe, as did the hotel - staff kept the entrance door locked at all times and supervised access to/from the premises

Very noisy guests outside our room, Slow wifi, Cleaner broke our travel adaptor, Staff werent happy when we had to leave early in the morning as we had to wake her up.
Breakfast was nice but the same eveyday, Daily Housekeeping, Good water Pressure, Aircon worked well. Location was close to a mall and grocery store.

Air conditioning did not work in the first room, had to request to move. Breakfast is terrible, eggs were dry every time, no butter available. This is a big area of opportunity, breakfast is the exact same every day. Kitchen staff seems a bit shy and a bit scared of customers. Weird actually. Did not have ice or drinks or snacks for purchase. Staff could be a bit nicer, no one was unpleasant, but compared to the rest of places we visited in San Salvador, staff was not as welcoming and warm. Did not like that I observed staff is not able to use the elevator, seems like a lot to go up and down 4 floors all day. It was difficult for me to use the phone, front desk staff had to ask for authorization to a manager for me to make a local phone call related to covid testing.
Loved the convenient location. Beds were very comfortable. Water pressure and hot water were great, no interruption. Was able to print covid tests results and boarding passes. Size of the room was great. Cleanliness was impeccable, no complaints here whatsoever. Excellent price.
