Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaWe were group of 9 people. We stayed for 1 night. Everything was as we expected. Nice huts, good restaurant, sunset safari with open park's Toyota. There is no electricity inside huts, but we knew that and it was great as staff brought two kerosine lanterns in front of each hut. Cold and hot shower was present. The dinner was plentiful and very tasty. In the morning just before light came out we were sitting at benches near camp's waterhole and watched antelopes and rhinos.

NetherlandsThere could be more laughter at the reception. The atmosphere of the oil lamps and candles is wonderful, but it is a shame that after more than 20 years there is still no electricity and WiFi in the cottages themselves. The double bed is too narrow. The price excluding conservation fee, breakfast and dinner is too high.
Unique experience, clean premises, pretty good food, Our preference was honored. Friendly restaurant and bar staff.

MozambiqueNo electricity in the chalets (but I knew that going in). If you build more four-bedroom family units consider having two bathrooms in each as four-bedrooms can equate to eight people sharing one bathroom.
Family rooms available, mosquito netting, oil lamps

United KingdomWiFi was terrible, we had a family emergency and were trying to get home early so this really impacted us. Usually it wouldn't have been an issue and we would have enjoyed being off grid.
We loved it here, as we turned up there were two hippos playing at the watering hole and impalas running around. We very much enjoyed sitting and watching the animals around the water whilst the sun was setting. Food was great (was able to make vegan for evening meal and breakfast, weren't there for lunch). Staff were friendly. The hut was much nicer in person than in the photos and the bed was very comfortable. Getting ready by candlelight for bed and in the morning for our Rhino drive was brilliant. Can't recommend staying here enough!

United KingdomI was told the left over buffet food was thrown away rather than being offered to staff or local disadvantaged people which feels wasteful. Potentially installation of solar panels on the huts to enable lights and fans would be a worthwhile addition with remaining in keeping with the experience.
Staying within the park gave a unique experience being able to see the animals through out the day but particularly at sun rise and sunset!

United KingdomMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, for the first night we stayed in the Bhubesi camp but moved to the main camp for the second night because the road to the first camp is 11 km, of quite bad gravel road--Thoroughly enjoyed our time in the main camp there is wildlife all around and early in the morning we saw 18 rhinoceroses by the watering hole. All in all a fantastic stay

South AfricaWe purposefully chose the accommodation without electricity, so we were expecting that. However, in hindsight, we realised that, with a little effort, they could have created some light, using solar panels. it would have been great if there was some basic solar lights on the outside, at the reception area. The reason for choosing the accommodation at Ndlovu was because of the watering hole access. However, because it was completely dark, you could actually not enjoy the watering hole. So, the only time you could really see anything was during the daylight, making the sacrifice for no electricity in your accommodation not worth the sacrifice. Drinking water should be made available. They do not provide drinking water (unless you first boil the tap water) and then are required to buy water. At least providing people with some water, e.g 5l bottle of drinking water would go a long way. Meals, while tasty, is overpriced.
The quietness. Enjoying the Rhinos and hippos in the morning and early evening (see later comments under 'what you did not like'.
