Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Excellent staff. The owner is a true gem and the most hospitable and helpful person. He also knows everything every traveller/tourist needs. The rooms were spacious and the hotel is right at the heart of the town. Good breakfast.

IndiaUnfortunately, the guy (owner?) who I had read about and who spoke English was away but he was contacted on the phone and got us a taxi for Dushanbe.
Actually I meant to rate this hotel but wrote it in the slot for Sugdiyon hotel in Khujand which was definitely mediocre. This hotel's room was central, large and comfy and the staff (one boy) very helpful.

RomaniaThe guesthouse experienced a couple of power outages during my stay, but the blame most likely falls on the electricity provider, as all the buildings in the area were affected (except for some government office across the street :D)
Perfectly located right in the center of Panjakent, within walking distance to everything a traveler might need. Large and clean room with an ample balcony overlooking the street (noisy, but fun to watch), tasty breakfast. The owner is a wonderful character: to me, he resembled the very archetype of the old Silk Road merchants, as I have always imagined them - knowing everyone, knowing everything of interest, always busy organizing things and connecting people, talking to customers, sharing knowledge. He helped me arrange both a trip to the Seven Lakes and the transfer from/to the border for a very reasonable price.

Czech RepublicExceptional stay. The reason why I have decided to book this hotel was due to many positive reviews from Czech users. The owner welcomed us and explained that he has every year around 200 Czech travelers staying in his place so we immediately started a pleasant small talk. What we really liked was that each guest gets their own slippers for their stay in the hotel since there is no shoes policy. This ensures the hotel is clean. One of the receptionists recommended us nice local restaurant nearby and the owner helped us to book a car for a mountain trip. Restaurants and shops are nearby.

CanadaI have nothing bad to say!
The staff and boss at this hotel are super kind and helpful. They will help you organize anything you want to do in the area. The hotel is centrally located and the room has everything you need, including great wallpaper and free breakfast. Ps. There's a man who left a bad review based on his experience in a guesthouse in Haft Kul. I feel like it made the manager uncertain about suggesting anything to us. I just want to say that the guesthouse in question has very good reviews on Caravanistan forums (Caravanistan is an A+ source for Central Asia) and that the boss hooked us up with an amazing driver for our day to Haft Kul. He does know what he's talking about! Take some bad reviews with a huge grain of salt, especially when Westerners are slagging off guesthouses in very poor rural towns!

GermanyThe breakfast was a little bit disappointing, just boiled eggs, some sweet stuff like jam and cookies, bread and instant coffee.
The room was big and clean, it's also very good situated right in the center of the town. We could also park our 2 motorcycles inside the garage, which was great. The staff is very nice and speaks English.

United KingdomMy hotel stay was perfect, but the hotel manager gave me awful advice for the Seven Lakes. He insisted that I should cancel my 3-night booking at the highly-rated Jumaboy Guesthouse and instead stay with his friend who manages the Mijgon guesthouse nearby. I did so. When I arrived, the guesthouse manager had gone to Penjikent "for 1 day". His brother "would take care of me". His brother put me in a hut with an outhouse 50 metres away, and no place even to wash my hands. The family fed me well and did everything possible to make me comfortable in the hut, so I thought "for one night, it's ok". But after a long hike the next day, when I was very tired and in need of a shower, it was clear that they expected me to stay in the hut for the entire time. In fluent Russian I asked repeatedly when the guesthouse manager would return, but they were evasive. Finally I got the guesthouse manager on the phone, and he couldn't seem to decide whether he's coming back "tomorrow" or not until after Ramadan. I left and went to the wonderful Jumaboy Guesthouse where I should have stayed in the first place. So, DO stay at SUGD, I do believe it is the best place to stau in Penjikent. You will enjoy it. But DON'T accept any advice from the hotel manager about the.Seven Lakes.
Perfect location right by the bazaar, which is also where you get shared taxis to Sarazm and the Uzbek border. Very friendly, helpful staff. Large, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Coffee and tea available 24/7.

CanadaI loved everything about my stay at this hotel. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. He was very helpful and went above and beyond with anything that I needed. The location is excellent - just a short walk away from the bazaar, and walking distance to other attractions like the local museum. The room was spacious and very clean. I travelled alone as a woman and felt absolutely safe at this hotel. I am glad I chose this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

GermanyThe staff was outstandingly helpful, finding us a working ATM and a SIM card after crossing into Panjakent from Uzbekistan. Rooms are nice and quiet, old hotel building, would recommend! One thing, this is an issue for all of the region though - there are regular power cuts and the water pumps operate by electricity - so be prepared with power banks and bottled water 🙏🏼
