Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaMy god, the beds were not comfortable at all! Mattresses about 2-3 inches thick on metal frames so really just feels as thought you’re sleeping on metal. No food available when I arrived but you can cook yourself if you go to a shop down the road. Also, only one shower in the place and there was only toilet paper in one bathroom my whole stay. Definitely need a Reno in the Garden and some nice hangout areas. Little fixes would make this place so great!
Hot shower! Breakfast was free (bit small tho). Staff super lovely and there were a bunch of cute kittens! Free coffee and tea all of the time was great, met some lovely people staying as everyone kind of ends up hanging out. Only room with AC I had in East Timor!

United StatesThe animals are a bit loud, and the place is a bit run down, but everything was functional.
I liked the backpacker vibe. It's a certain type of person that travels to Timor Leste, and almost everyone I met was ticking the country off their country count but were still interested in the culture and activities. Nice vibe! The private room was a nice size and had nice air conditioning! They also helped set up my SIM card which was really nice.

United KingdomI had very little problem staying here but I’ll write some tips for other travellers in Timor Leste and in some cases Mokul: The experience at casa minha is to live modestly. Mokul does everything for his guests with Elisa’s help. The beds are basic Timor style with mattress on boards in bed frame. I was however still comfortable. The shower again is just the basic but works very well, even after a different guest broke the tap and Mokul fixed it :) Remember dengue fever is common in Timor leste and the mosquitos are everywhere including in the hotels, bars and casa minha. Be vigilant with bug spray and use strong smells like lavender / citrus in room and shower. Wifi is uncommon in Timor leste, it is still a developing country with only recent independence following tragic genocide. Mokul will however help you sharing hotspot for organising things, just don’t expect wifi all the time.
If you want a true experience living like a local from Timor-Leste within the suburbs of Dili then look no further. Mokul the host is a truly wonderful man. Infamous in Dili for setting up the backpackers house, you live with him and other guests in the accommodation. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you can share meals together and chat away. Having worked previously in Kolkata in 2012, it was lovely to share stories with him (as he is from Bangladesh). He was very helpful with airport transfers, microlit information, maps and general advice. His helper Elisa was also lovely and made me breakfast and coffee each morning. And his little 8 week old kitten is adorable and always wanting cuddles and play time. You can catch the number 9 Microlit directly outside from the property which takes you to most tourist attractions in about 20 minutes. It is only 0.25$ per ride. The number 12 connection takes you to Cristo Rei. A small store is 10 minutes away. Timor plaza and a supermarket is about 25 minutes.

SpainIt is hardly comfortable, some of the bunk beds are honestly a bit difficult to sleep on.
Considering Timor Leste's standards, this hostel is a very reasonable choice. It's definitely not the most comfortable accommodation, but it is quite cheap compared to other options in the city, and above everything else the people working there are very helpful: they clearly went out of their way to help me out with whatever issue I had. This hostel absolutely feels like the place where a backpacker should stay in Dili.

United StatesThere's no wifi and the beds are a bit old, but not a big deal. Staff will help set up guests with a cheap sim card.
This was our second stay here and it's exactly everything a backpacker could hope for in a hostel. The staff are delightful and super helpful, they made a huge effort to ensure we were comfortable, fed, and even helped us get a microlet to the airport. The environment is very comfortable with inside and outside seating to chat with the owners and interesting guests, and there's parking space for bikes. A hot shower is provided and bathrooms generally available. Laundry can be arranged as well as cheap, large, and delicious lunches and dinners for a couple dollars. I am so happy this place exists for travelers and we will always stay here when in Dili.

AustraliaI was a little unsure of the water quality (Mokul assured us it was government tested from his bore) and unsure of their dishwashing practices though everything appeared clean. The hostel is definitely not in the tourist area but where is that really in Timor Leste.
Great having breakfast included. Simple but excellent. Mokul cooked a simple but delicious evening meal for us each night at a great price. There were a few other guests, some international which made for great conversation & trading notes.

United StatesNo WiFi but that’s common in Dili. Also there are no posted quiet hours and one particular group was up well past midnight one evening , which can be heard through the bedroom window. Probably not a common event and easy to overlook given all the other benefits of staying here!
This hostel is an exceptional value in Dili. The hosts are delightful people who really go the extra mile for guests, personally picking us up at the airport and dropping us off at the pier, explaining how to use public transport and how/where to buy ferry tickets, and even buying us a SIM card. Alicia keeps their modest home (including bathrooms) spotlessly clean and provides a delicious breakfast (included), she is so quick to help with anything and always with a beautiful smile. AC worked great. Location was accessible to the center by microlet. We have a second stay already planned and are excited to return!

DenmarkI have no complaints; even the price is as budget friendly as it gets (by Timor-Lesterese standards).
Mokul (I hope I'm spelling it right) was a calm and hospitable host, always ready to answer any questions that I had. The hostel itself was homey, with a lounge area and kitchen. The location is close to Dili's only real mall, and only a bemo ride (no. 09) away from all essential sightseeing attractions in the city. You can catch the bemo at the intersection, literally 10 meters away from the hostel.

NetherlandsTimor Leste is a poor country, and so feel Casa Minha also. Breakfast is one fried egg with two thin slices bread, toasted in a pan. The mattresses are old, worn and very thin. Even two mattresses on top of each other couldn't prevent me from feeling like a sausage in a hot dog. I woke up every morning with a stiff back. The shower head holder was missing, i make the head hanging with iron wire. The cleaning could and should really be better. Light switches, for example, are downright dirty.
price was nice free tea use of the kitchen, so i make my own breakfast cold water in the fridge Bangladash owner is ok, but not pro-active helping. Maybe because he has a problem with his feet. I could use the owners hotspot because there is no wifi
