The restaurant felt a bit neglected. The staff didn't seem interested in service or were often elsewhere/ missing. We are vegetarian and some of the few vegetarian options for dinner weren't available. The breakfast was also fairly basic. A shame because the great location and view could make the restaurant competitive with other options down the road.

Esplanada has a nice charm. The location on the beachfront is great, with most things particularly diving centers within walking distance. The room was comfortable and had AC to beat the heat, as well as lots of drinking water. The team on check in and check out were great and had a driver to take us to the airport.

The pool and pool area was probably not as nice as they seemed in the pictures. We didn't end up using the pool or sitting out at all. Timor Leste is still a developing country but we found the people very friendly and the culture was interesting. We spent 3 nights and one day toured the island (our highlight) and one day visiting the statue of Christ, and walking the town, including the struggle for independence museum.

The location was a little outside the main part of town, but it was along the coast and we did walk to town, but it was a 25-30 minute walk, depending on where in town you went. The restaurant was right above the check-in with a view of the coast. The breakfast was pretty good, with eggs, toast, cereal, coffee and tea. The staff was very friendly. The AC in the room worked well. The restaurant was open all day and we could have drinks and sit on couches and relax. We took a day tour into the mountains and loved it. Our guide was great, and talking to him about the history of the country and the people and their struggle for independence was really good. The views were great, the coffee plantation where we had lunch was great, just a great day out. Clearly the highlight of our stay.

The Yoga sessions. They can look for a different venue. No complementary dinner for long stay.

Very good breakfast, however some variation on daily basis would be an added value. expand on choices , baked beans, other soft drinks apart from Apple and orange. if the Yoga team can find a different space , it would make the breakfast time more enjoyable.

Older style TV Couldn’t plug in hard drive for movies. Only CNN and limited channels. Wifi was good though.

Location location location was unreal.Right on the shoreline. Easy to access transport and easy to walk around. The water in room was hot. The ac was cold. The bed was comfortable, Tea coffee facilities and water cooler in room.

Internet in East Timor can be very frustrating.

We love Esplanada. We love stepping out of our cool bedroom into its beautiful tropical garden and swimming pool. We love its nearly 24 hour restaurant (with an amazing cook) looking out on to the ocean, and watching the incredible Dili transport (How many people can you fit on a motor bike?) and the cool breeze that is always there. We enjoy interacting with the Timorese staff who always try their best. and remember us when we come back. We love a twilight dinner out by the pool We like the fact that it it not a Western hotel, but a Timorese hotel with Western comforts. We always go back there and meet incredible people.

There were quite a few items on the menu that weren't available, and this information took quite a while to get back to us, so we ended up having to reorder a couple of times.

Hotel Esplanada is a wonderful place to stay, the pool was a particular highlight for us, as was the coffee at the restaurant. The staff were incredibly helpful, they helped us organise transportation to Balibo when we were beginning to worry whether we'd be able to make it. The restaurant has a good range of options, including vegetarian/vegan options which my Mum loved The rooms are a great size, with filtered water provided, and decent hot water in the shower.

Staff was very friendly. Good location. Loved they had some vegan options on the menu. Also I was so tired when I got here, I had left my phone in their restaurant. When I realized I was missing it, I went outside and the lady from restaurant was already bringing it to me. Ac works great and the shower water gets extremely hot.

The location of Hotel Esplanada is excellent being across the road from the ocean, within walking distance of many restaurants, and a short walk to a few shops too. Fresh fruit salad every day for breakfast was an excellent way to start each day. (And there were many other options for breakfast included in the cost) Enjoying the pool every afternoon was an excellent way to complete the daylight hours. Mana Rosa and all the staff were very friendly, very helpful and very accommodating. (Particularly as I went cycling very early each morning.)
