How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. There is no air-conditioning in early May (which is when I visited) but apparently this is the case everywhere due to some government directives to preserve energy!
This hotel is in the heart of Tunis downtown. It has a collection of rotating staff at reception who are very helpful and well-mannered. Th hotel's staff overall (from the cleaners to the managers) are wonderful Tunisian people.

My tip is to contact the hotel before you arrive to make sure your reservation is intact - I travelled with a small group, and the hotel had lost several of our reservations when we arrived. Staff were very helpful in arranging alternative accommodation nearby, and the Carlton porter even carried my bag to the next hotel. (I had booked two stays at the Carlton on either end of a tour of Southern Tunisia, and my reservation for the second stay worked with no issues).
The Carlton is great value for money. The location is excellent, with just a short walk to the Medina. The rooms are functional and neat, the wifi free and mostly operational, and the breakfast has a wide selection of tasty things. Staff are friendly and professional.

Shuttle service is not worth it. Driver was quite late and it was double price compared to a bolt taxi. Room could be cleaner. Pillows uncomfortable.
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Location safe and very convenient. Excellent breakfast.

The matress was too hard for my taste. The fire alarm went off twice during our stay. Once in the morning and another time at night.
The breakfast was delicious with a lot of choice. Fresh juices. Crepes and omelettes made on the spot. Location couldn't be more centric. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and it had a nice big balcony.

There was a large staff car park right behind the hotel which was not available to guests, which is a shame as it was virtually empty during our 3 night stay.
Friendly helpful staff, great location and breakfast was exceptional with a wide range of choices, definitely a 5 star hotel breakfast. The balcony was a huge plus as was the central location. The security was excellent. The history of the hotel and interior art displays were very interesting. We really enjoyed our stay and would return if visiting Tunis again.

View was not great. They don’t let you bring people to the rooms unfortunately. Security is too stick in my opinion

There was a mixup over where I needed to meet the shuttle taxi at the airport so I had to catch a local cab late at night which isn't ideal for a lone female traveller. Other than that, all was good.
The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of Tunis and convenient for restaurants and shopping. The staff were very helpful and I loved the authentic Tunisian breakfast buffet.

the weather was really hot and the air condition were turned off when i asked the answer was the system is centralized and they wont be turned on until June

I am a regular customer, I love everything about the hotel except for one thing , the type of the pillows are not good , it's small and always make a pain in my back of the neck, and doesn't let me sleep well .

Not quite isolated you can hear a lot of noise
