Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandAs others mentioned, the shower hose is attached to the bathroom sink which is kind of weird and not the most convenient solution. It wasn't a big deal for me though. What really surprised me was that despite the very nice common area guests didn't seem to want to interact with others. I have spent more than half a year in hostels in the past and always met interesting people from all over. Here however, most guests sitting in the common area where busy starring at their mobile devices and only on rare occasions someone greeted back. This obviously is not the fault of the hostel but I still wanted to mention it. I have met great people during my time in Taipei, but none of them at the hostel besides the very friendly lady during check in and check out.
I stayed for 10 days in a basic double room (314) with own bathroom. Room looked exactly like the one showed in the hostels description. Bed was very comfortable, big window and a smaller window that could be opened. I never had any issues with noise from the rooms around. AC works great. Plenty of power sockets. Its a small room but has everything you need. Location is very good with only a few minutes walking to Taipei main station (Airport Express and other MRT Lines) and Zhongshan Station (Red and Green Line MRT). The Bulding is beeing kept well and has a very nice common kitchen with all the amenities you could think of.

GermanyToo little space and shelves, boards, hooks etc. No chance to keep order in a private room with two people.
Very nice place. Relatively quiet for where it is located, if you sleep toward the courtyard. Very nice common spaces and kitchen.

VietnamThe room is quite small, and the wall is actually not soundproof. The laundry room worktime seems not convenient for travelers who go outside a whole day and wanna do their laundry at night.
A very nice place for modern young travelers.

PhilippinesThe location was really good as it was near the airport link and also plenty of museums around it. The room was spacious enough for luggages and each bed bunk offered secure storage for personal belongings. Hospitality of the staff is also commendable.

PhilippinesNo 24 hours staff, still if you have emergency they will go back the hostel and accommodate. It’s not much of a problem.

SingaporeBreakfast should serve water too as bread was slightly dry. Bathroom slightly small and showing some signs of wear and tear. Check-in was not 24 hours, closed at 9pm which could be a rush. Convenience stores nearby but nearest one needed to cross the street which had a traffic light that stopped working in the evening. Only allowed to eat in rest area, could be inconvenient. Could have more spaces to sit beyond large table area. Water cooler on 1st and 2nd floor only.
Breakfast with choice of sandwich was nice. Try apple ham option. Location was not bad. About 10+ min walk to Zhongshan shopping area. Room was good enough for size with a couple carry on sized luggage. Big window for natural light. Aircon was working well. Plugs at good location at head of bed. Quiet room. Not much noise from traffic or outside room. Bathroom cleaned regularly. Lift available to rooms. Shared fridge available. One large table for eating at. Architecture of building was interesting. Only 1 block, smaller location than expected. Bookshop was decorated nicely.

AustraliaWasn’t social, there is a common area but everyone sits there with headphones in or on laptops. If travelling solo I think it would be harder to meet people. The social area is also in the middle of a book shop which was slightly strange. Also the staff were very friendly but not very helpful; didn’t really have any recommendations or much information on
The room was spacious, clean and good facilities. Nice, simple breakfast included

United StatesWhether you get a good night of sleep really depends on your neighbors. My first night there was perfectly quiet. Second night... My upstairs neighbor was probably jumping up and down until 1 am! Also, my toilet water tank broke but housekeeping came to fix it promptly.
Central location. Close to Taipei Main Station and shopping malls. Friendly staff. The girl I dealt with at reception spoke fluent English. Good water pressure. Nice shower. Free breakfast.

SwitzerlandThe room wasn't ventilated properly so even just a small damp towel would take days to dry. This also made the rooms quite smelly. When you opened the windows the noise from the street made it difficult for some others to sleep, so they closed it again.
The capsule is quite spacious with a locker right next to your bed. Also it is quite close to the mainstation aswell as a Metro line.
