Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomInternet/WiFi only in the lobby and not in the rooms. Limited seating and power points there. Most inconvenient. Also, the lobby was infested with mosquitos which bit! Most uncomfortable! The lights in the room were difficult to operate and the TV did not work. I subsequently found a much cheaper and better small hotel.
The staff were charming and helpful

TaiwanThe carpet was not vacuumed. You can see accumulated dust on the ceiling and air vents. There was a TV, but it did not work. There was a mini fridge, but it was disconnected. There was only one light/lamp in the room.
The bed was comfortable. A supermarket was beside the hotel. Two major convenience stores were across the street. A ten-minute walk to the Q-Square department store.

SingaporeI have a long list. Other than faulty electrical sockets (which the staff just simply smiled at me when I told them about it), the place is dirty, with cockroaches, lizard droppings. The room is also not sound proof as promised. I could hear lots of noises when other travellers walked along the corridor which was filled with cigarette smoke at night. After the cancellation period has expired, the hotel sent an email saying that there was no TV (but yet TV was displayed in the pictures and also in the room. It is like a museum exhibit) no wifi in the room, and the flask was not even equipped with an electrical cable. I later learnt that it was supposed to be used to hold hot water at the lobby. This is ridiculous. The email claims that it is because the hotel is a budget one. Another ridiculous area. When I made known to the staff that because the electrical sockets near the bed and TV are not working, I had to charge my handphone in the bathroom, the staff at the counter just gave a weak smile. Before that, when I asked for a wake up call, he said I should use the handphone alarm. But because my handphone was in the bathroom, I could not hear the alarm and I missed the meeting time with my landtour group at 6am at the Taipei Main Station. As a result I have to reschedule to the next day and was charged an additional $1000. I asked for compensation from the hotel but they refused. It was frustrating because it was the close meeting point and early meeting time that makes me decide to book this hotel in the first place. This hotel is not worth it simply because of its location. It is far better for traveller to spend some money on taxi fare rather than book this run-down and overpriced hotel. Do not book It simply for its location, you will regret it! Look carefully at the bedsheets and you will realise there are lizard droppings. I would have uploaded the video on cockroaches if this site would accept it. The notices on door are at least 40 years old!
The staff allowed me to place luggage at the counter after I checked out but that was also because of the delayed schedule as a result of faulty electrical sockets. But allowing luggage to be placed at lobby is a common practice in Taipei. There is no space for me to write what I dislike and so I shall continue here. When I complained to the hotel and asked for compensation, they tried to stop me from writing a bad review by telling booking.com that I did not check in! Can you believe Hoe ridiculous this is? It is unethical and a deliberate attempt to mislead.
