The lobby had some bugs and spiders crawling around. I was also unable to find where Breakfast was held, and there were no staff in the morning to show me the way (they explained it the prior night, but it still was unclear)

A lot of things to love about this place: - Friendly staff who can speak English - A convenient location, situated near the end of Jiufen Old Street - A large private room with nice ammenities - Soundproof walls, and a customizable A/C unit - Flexible check-in/check-out times - Incredible value, $35 is a steal for what you get They also prepared my room several hours early, which was extremely welcoming and greatly appreciated

Lovely spot, with a nice view and a beautiful room. We loved our stay here. Bed was comfy and showers heated quickly. Staff were really helpful for food recommendations.

This place is incredible for the price! The location is perfect, just outside of the Main Street to be at peace, but 2 min walk to get to it. There are also walking tracks starting from there. The owners have taken a great care designing the place and there is a lots of little attention everywhere. The breakfast is delicious and healthy and in a very dreamy place. Staying in Jiufen is a great way to see the village before and after the big tours are there. You can see people crafting and preparing traditional food everywhere. I couldn’t leave, I enjoyed my stay so much!

My only qualm and suggestion is for the owners to get a newer dehumidifier. I had to unplug the one that was in my room because it was making way too much noise. It is a very small thing compared to the position and the value of the price

The ensuite is worth every penny. If you are willing to stay in a mid budget room, and without having to share the ammenities with anybody else, it's the ideal place to be. It felt like living in an upstairs attic all by myself :)

The whole house is for us. The location is so easy to walk to the center of Jiufen. The staffs and the owner are really friendly and fluent English speaking.

My room leaked in the rain and I had to use my towel to quieten the drips overnight. The bathroom is very basic and lacks privacy with a see-through glass door. The advertised free walking tour was unavailable.

Friendly welcome on a rainy day. I was able to store my bike inside. Hot water for tea and cooking facilities available.

It’s a bit hard to find. Maybe there could be a Sign that is easier to find in the Dark.

The Receptionist was very very very nice and made me feel very welcome to my place. I just felt very comfortable.

Loved the location, it is a very unique village and peaceful at night with beautiful views. There are a few ways to get to the guesthouse, if you take the bus to the 7-eleven you can walk right across the village without any stairs. The staff was super friendly and provided a map. The breakfast was lovely and made with local produce. The double suite room was very unique, comfortable and spacious.

This isn’t necessarily a negative but beware that there are three levels so lots of stairs. The stairs to the top bedroom are ladder stairs.

The shower is intermittent hot and cold. The top floor room is accessed via steep staircase. No prob for adults but will be challenging for kids and old folks.

It was an interesting experience to stay in the tree house. Place is huge with 3 storeys and top floor balcony.

The stairs to the room was narrow and steep. It was a nightmare when taking shower! So difficult to adjust the temperature, either hot or cold. Management should seriously look into this issue as I believe I am not the only feedback on this.

Nothing much, really - but may not be suitable for those who have mobility issues, many steps and staircases to reach.

Quaint, charming place that is very close to the old street. Note that their rooms are dispersed, and may not be the same address as listed. I was lucky with the specific room: Shine House
