Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNone.
For budget conscious travellers, this place has all that you'd need. The owner can do pick up and send off from train station (if informed earlier) . Alternatively, a taxi ride costs around TWD$150. You can also organise a day trip to Taroko Gorge with the owner too. To my surprise, there are a lot of really good coffee cafes (for a Melbournian like me, coffee is a necessity), and restaurants around. Night market is a stone throw distance away. Facilities such as wifi, drinking water, washing machines are provided. There is no dryer but hanging the clothes to dry for a day is sufficient. The place is an absolute treat! Thank you for taking of me and my friends.

United StatesThere are no particular dislikes. But it was a bit confusing for us to find the hotel because there is a large sign on a different building with the hotel's name but it is not the right location. It's actually the hotel owner's residence. We had to call the hotel owner. He came out and led us to the right location. The lighting in the room could be better. But otherwise we were happy about our stay.
The hotel is conveniently located at the heart of Hualien within walking distance to the city's night markets. There are an elevator, top floor for social and washing machines free for guest use. The room is cleaned daily. The room size is fine. The bathroom is spacious.

Philippines-WiFi is a bit slow and kept disconnecting, it's a good thing I didn't have to work while I was there -The payment of the booking was taken again in the facility. As per my booking here, it's a pay now booking but then the owner advised that they need to process payment in the facility and will refund whatever payment Booking.com processed on my card. I am not really sure if that will be done properly (I just don't like this process since there were no advice prior to me arriving at the facility that this will be the case)
The B&B is tucked in an alley that's very close to close to Chongqing Market and Dongdamen Night Market. -The house/building seemed new and all facilities are working (they have an elevator too) -They have 24-hr coffee machine and hot water dispenser at the lobby -There are a lot of cafes, restaurants and grocery shops close by -The owners were very accommodating and altho they already advised on their page that they mainly speaks chinese they use translation device to help foreign guests like me -They bicycle that you can borrow -The owners drop me off to Hualien Train Station after checkout

AustraliaThe only downfall I think is that it is not near the train station. But it is extremely close to the market which means you won't have to travel from the train station each night for the market.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The location is approximately 10 minutes from the Hualien train station ($150NTD via taxi) but it is only a 2 minute walk to the night markets which had a great variety of food and entertainment. There is also a supermarket and veggie stalls 2 minute walk from the accommodation. Bathroom was spacious and clean and the AC worked well

United StatesWe loved our stay at the property!
Wow - this was our favorite stay during our 1 month trip around Taiwan! Not only is the location perfect (close to Dongdamen Night market, bus stops, restaurants, shops), but the hospitality and generosity of the family/owners is unparalleled! We stayed in the double room, which was thoughtfully decorated and had a soft queen size bed, a balcony, all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay (mini fridge, hair dryer, electric kettle). On top of that, they offer free airport/train station pickup, laundry machine use, bicycle rental, and freshly ground coffee (delicious)! We also enjoyed the common space area on the roof (views of the mountain/city). The owners were always friendly and willing to help out with any questions we had. There are also two cute little dogs to greet you when you come back. I really enjoyed my stay here, and will definitely stay again next time I'm in Hualien! 10/10 recommend
