How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The lobby was a tad bit small, but nice nonetheless.
The cleanliness and smell was consistent throughout the property. The rooms were spacious enough and very well-maintained.

However the wifi was not consistent on certain days.
The staff were all super friendly and helpful! The facilities were amazing too and the room was spacious and clean.

The only thing i didn't like was the breakfast hours, as the food was kept at 10am sharp. Perhaps the hotel can consider to allow a 15min grace period before keeping at the food on the dot at 10am?
When I booked Hotel Metropolitan Taipei, I booked it for its location. I had very little expectation of the service and did not realized they were the first JR East hotel outside Japan. It explains the amazing hospitality, and the happy hour and snacks at the executive lounge are to die for. Amazing staffs and hospitality. Special call out to Heiko Chen, the Lounge Manager for his professionalism and personalized service. Not to mention, the overall care and concern by the front line staffs at the lounge. We felt very much at home.

Very nice hotel. Room layout was well thought out. Service was really good. I asked for a crib for my child and the hotel very helpfully provided a bottle steriliser without me making a request for it. Roomkeeping service was very thoughtful and replaced the extra towel that I asked for everyday. Breakfast and executive lounge snacks were also really delicious and good quality. Quite a huge step above other hotels I have stayed in Taiwan.

I wish our connecting executive suite had a king bed.
The staff here was phenomenal, especially our housekeeper. Everyone was very pleasant and made us feel welcome and comfortable.

Rates were slightly on the higher end but this was to be expected as it is in Taipei.
Location was good. Room was decently sized and they were accommodating when I requested for a second cot for my child. Staff were also helpful in getting taxis and providing information. There was also a 24H convenience stall nearby.

In-room dining has very limited options, and in particular no breakfast nor in fact any service before 10 am. The hotel hosts conferences and such, it can get a bit noisy with a crowd in the lobby (the hotel is shaped like a hollow cube and echoes like a cathedral). Fortunately staff seemed to put a lid on that around 10pm. Thanks :-) These are minor gripes and I'd definitely stay here again.
Excellent hotel. Very friendly staff. Spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet rooms. Close to subway lines/exits, a night market and right by a nice little park/playground. Fantastic breakfast buffet (at a price).

I wish there are more drawers to put in clothes. The gym can use some upgrade - no elliptical machine. The pool is functional but the tiles can use some cleaning.
This is a great hotel! Wonderful location with 2 MRT lines one block away and many buses 1/2 block right in front of the building. There are so many nice restaurants close by. Safe neighborhood as well. Good room size, very comfortable beds. The bathroom is big with shower and big tub. The staffs are very friendly and nice. We stayed for 18 days and requested a quiet room. The room we stayed was facing the side and it was very quiet! We don't hear any noise from the street. The only noise was someone else slangs the door across the aisle. I will go back to this hotel again!

Nothing really. Everything was great, keep it up!
Love the location (very close to Metro and convenient stores) and the executive lounge experience was excellent. Service was great and staff were friendly. We greatly appreciated the room assigned, slept very well as our quality of rest in the room was excellent. Breakfast spread was great too. Hubby enjoyed the Spa as well.
