Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere is no closet and it was a bit tricky finding a place to open our luggage other than the floor. However, this was a minor detail
We stayed in Hualien for 4 nights and we loved this little hotel. The coffee, tea, soft serve ice cream and snacks are available 24/7 in the "dining room" just off the main lobby. The coffee was outstanding. We would take a mid afternoon or after dinner break in the "dining room" that felt like our own private cafe. The hotel front desk is staffed all day and night and they were very helpful, either calling a taxi for us or giving us directions. The hotel is very close to several excellent breakfast places and an awesome tofu pudding stand. We also got great massages from a place 2 blocks away. The bathroom in our room was spacious and very clean. Each room comes with a kettle and a small fridge so we'd get fresh fruit from the market and store it in the fridge.

MalaysiaLocation! At the side of city centre, which means away from the hustle bustle of the city centre but it is a very convenient location. There are few eateries for breakfast and we had a great Taiwanese dinner at Fu Gong Happiness Restaurant which is a short walk from the hotel. There is also a laundry just adjacent to the hotel.

CanadaWe had never been to Hualien before and only stayed for one night so didn't experience anything negative.
We loved the room itself. Very clean, updated and comfortable. We also enjoyed that you could help yourself to coffee, juice and cookies anytime from the restaurant area. We did not have breakfast there.

South KoreaI recommend booking it without breakfast as they don’t serve breakfast but give you a coupon worth less than you pay for the breakfast option. Some ridiculous rules: if something in the room breaks, you should pay 10x its price? Checking out 10 minutes late costs 15% of one nights room charge!? These kind of crazy rules don’t make you feel comfortable but feel like it‘s just about making money. If you don‘t speak Chinese I don‘t recommend staying here. They won‘t be able to help you for booking tours or give advice on activities around as they hardly speak English.
Rooms are new and hotel is decorated with love. You can get free coffee and rent a bike for free, also a nice idea. Staff is nice & tries to help.

RomaniaWe had vouchers for breakfast, but all the addresses were in chinese and pretty hard to find if you're not a local. Maybe they'll start offering breakfast in house also, because they have a nice hall with chairs, tables with included coffee, ice cream, water, etc
Everything was great, the staff didn't know english but we got along fine with Google Translate on the phone. The rooms were very big, very clean and a lot of light entered the room. Would stay there again anytime!

SingaporeLocated conveniently within walking distance to Dongdamen night market, but quite far from Hualien train station (30min walk/infrequent local bus - recommend to take taxi for around 150NTD). Hotel has a nice lounge area with free flow biscuits, soft drinks, coffee and soft serve ice cream! Room is a bit small (no wardrobe), huge smart TV, super modern toilet facilities. Overall beautiful Scandinavian style design of rooms, comfortable and nice staff.

SingaporeBreakfast was a voucher that you will have to go to the nearby eateries to collect your food. Would have been more convenient if they have breakfast in house as this will save some time. However if you want to try out the local breakfast this is good.
The location of the hotel as great, near to the main Hualien streets and close to the Dongdamen night market. There was lots of wonderful restaurants nearby. The hotel facilities was very new, room was spacious and even had bedside wireless charging. Bed was super comfortable and bathroom facilities clean. Couldn't be more impressed with the room. Definitely recommend to all travelers. Was great for family stay. There is a pantry with free flow drinks, snacks and ice-cream for guests.

GermanyWe lost our keycard to the room somewhere in Hualien. This was entirely our own fault. But we were surprised how high the cost was to replace it (500 TWD). Such cards are usually replaced for free at most other hotels. We paid for the lost card but were then surprised again: the security settings on the card could not be reset. This meant that anyone who found the old card could have entered our room, especially as the lost card had the hotel address on it as well as our room number. We felt insecure about our belonging in the room and wondered at night, sleeping, whether we were 100% secure! If the hotel cannot reset the security cards they should certainly not include the location of where to use them. Another problem at the hotel was that Wi-Fi was very weak in the room, to the extent that the television could also not be used due to poor reception. Finally, when we checked out, we were asked by the hotel to use a QR-code to give the property at five-star review on the spot. In general, we found the front-desk staff a little officious, but this request made us uncomfortable, since we were not happy with our stay and did not want to offend our hosts. The property should not supervise reviews in this way, in order to bump up its rating.
Hotel is new and the room was well-appointed. We chose a standard room with comfortable bed, powerful shower. It was quiet and clean and the price was reasonable. We also liked the neighbourhood, with plenty of cute bars and restaurants.

TaiwanThey couldn’t provide ice for their guests. I have never seen a star hotel with this price that do not have ice in the hotel! Also, the table charger doesn’t work on my iPhone 12 mini, what a pity...
Nothing much, expect for the senses of the body wash and hand wash provided in the room.
