How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was no water in the pool, and there were no sunbeds by the pool, although it was shown on the pictures on booking.com, and in the elevator. A little party pooper, when bathing in the sea is prohibited.
The breakfast was fairly good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was facing the sea, and had a nice balcony. We could also borrow bicycles for free, which was very nice.

Staff were incredibly friendly and knowlegeable. Breakfast was well stocked with good variety of fresh foods. Room was very clean and comfortable. Immediate beach access from the hotel! Will definitely stay here again when we are in the area!

Maybe room isolation could be improved and the door closing system making noise over night.
The room was very charming, clean and comfortable with water, coffee and tea at disposal. The balcony and the view provide sweet relaxing moments. The beach nearby is peaceful and beautiful. The breakfast is correct with a choice of fruit, local dishes and beverages. The hotel staff is ecceptional and really customer oriented by giving information and tips for your stay.

Air conditioner is storong.Of course, it can be adjusted, but for me as a Japanese, it was quite chilly.
Good staff.The service was excellent, they provided transportation from the station.

The hotel is a bit far away from Hualien city center but it is on the beach and the hotel provides free shuttles at check-in/out and sometimes in the morning and bikes from 9am to 5pm.
The staff was very helpful and available, the view was great and the room was very comfortable.

Honestly not much could be done to improve our experience any further.
Superbly friendly staff. Dan in particular was very helpful by providing a shuttle service for us from Hualien railway station. While this hotel is a fair way away from Hualien itself, the local area is superb. Lovely beaches, walking trails, a few good restaurants and a convenience store a short walk away. Breakfast was great, and the rooms were very cozy and had a mediterranean feel to them. Honestly it was a great couple of days spent here.

Super close to the beach, beautiful views from the balcony! Room was a good size. Clean and comfortable. The hotel also offered free bicycles to rent and free shuttle service to and from Hualien train station. Quite a few small eateries and also a family mart nearby. Staff were super kind and helpful and also spoke English well.

Apart from the hotel, the surrounding streets and neighbourhood can be very dark at night.
Exceptional and prompt customer service by the front desk and backend made the stay pleasant. Receptionists suggested suitable activities depending on weather of the day and engaged the right services (taxi, room services, etc.) without hesitation. The room was simple and clean, the hotel environment is idyllic, with a 24 hour convenient store nearby.

The staff were helpful and polite. The rooms were clean and it is so near to the beach. I also enjoyed the free bicycles provided by the hotel. The free flow of drinks and biscuits was a bonus and my children enjoyed themselves very much.

Didn't like that there wasn't shops or restaurants that were within walking distance. Had to take a taxi to the night market area.
Good variety for breakfast. Liked that the cafe was open 24/7 and could always get drinks or snacks. Staff were extremely helpful with planning our excursions and hiring our guide/ driver.
