JapanHaving just a partial glass barrier between the toilet and the shower area was not ideal because water got around the toilet.
Loved the room itself overall, great view, comfortable bed! Staff was very kind and helpful with our questions around local travel and recommendations.

Also the second day, they serve the the set breakfast at your room, you can’t choose what you want to eat, also the room is too small, no space to eat , not very comfortable. The first day the breakfast was served in the first floor as buffet style, it is much better.
The view is beautiful, it is very clean and new inside. The location is excellent, right behind the pier.

United StatesWhen we came down for breakfast, the staff were busy loading up the food onto plates on carts and taking it off to somewhere else - to the hotel next door? We asked what about us, and so they put out a few things very quickly and ran off. It was very odd. There was no one else but us in the breakfast room. No explanation. The Chinese name for this hotel is Sun Moon Lake Home Hotel (or something similar) and not Sun Moon Lake Apollo Hotel. Thus, when we were asking people on the street where it was, no one had a clue. Finally, someone realized where it was and pointed it out. Very frustrating. Lastly, you may hear a very loud leaf blower in the morning on the plaza out front. Kind of took away from whatever tranquility we were hoping for.
Too rigid about check-in time. Although the hotel looked virtually empty, the receptionist staff would not let us check in before 3pm. In fact, not even five minutes before check-in time. So, even though the room was very nice, clean, well-designed, and with a balcony overlooking the boat docks on the water, the lack of hospitality towards weary travelers made us very annoyed. Most places will allow people to check in early if the rooms are ready. The hotel business requires hospitality - it is not about a price for a fixed amount of time, especially if one wants to stay in business. The hotel does have a great view of the sunrise to the east and it is well-situated in the town of Shuishe.

Hotel is perfectly located at the water’s edge, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the bus stop in Shuishe. The waterfront rooms face east which is perfect to watch the sunrise from the balcony - or bed! The room is spacious, spotlessly clean and furnished with a tv, mini fridge, kettle, hairdryer and fancy Japanese toilet. Ours had a bath tub too but not sure if all rooms do. The staff are friendly and really helpful. Breakfast - and solid mix of Western and Eastern foods - is either in the ground floor restaurant, or served in your room if the hotel is quiet. The staff will help with boat and cable car tickets at a discounted price.

United StatesCounter space and closet space in the room were limited.
Breakfast was cooked in the morning and delivered to the room and was great, however it was served at 8 am which was a little later than I would like to have. The two of the more senior staffs at the front desk were super. One took my request and prepared a to-go breakfast for us to pick up at 7:40 am upon our leaving for a 8 am bus to Alishan. She even gave me a bottle water after I told her the juice in the cup is not secured by a lid, super! A newer staff at the front desk when we checked in was fine not as super as the other two more senior staffs. The owner was on-site numerous times and was super friendly! I highly recommend this hotel if you want a lake view room.

United KingdomUnfortunately the sound proofing in the hotel is not up to standard. You can hear people taking showers and talking in the rooms around you. This was a problem on our last night when the people around us were talking too loudly and until late.
The view from the lake view rooms are stunning. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy to access other parts of the lake via boat and bus from the hotel.

NetherlandsOverpriced. The quality of the room is below average at this price level. Blockage of the drainage caused the flooding of the bathroom. Noticeable green mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. Also you have to boil your own drinking water, which made it inconvenient if you only want to have a sip of fresh water (of course not a problem if you are ok with drinking the tap water directly. Overall, it is way overpriced and I would stay at another place with same price next time.

AustraliaBeautiful hotel with tastefully designed rooms that offer spectacular views over sun moon lake. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. One of the best hotels during our trip to Taiwan and certainly the one with the most dramatic views. Location is great, close to the shuttle bus stop and only steps away from the pier. Strongly recommend for a relaxing visit to sun moon lake.
