Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOutstanding location, two blocks from Dongdamen Night Market, and across the street from the beach. Friendly staff, surprisingly good breakfast, cold A/C, decent WiFi, and very comfortable bed. Glad I stayed here and not in the "downtown" area closer to the train station.

SingaporeThere were ants in the kitchen which I feel could be improved.
The uncle is especially friendly towards which made you feel at home. He will do his best to cater to our needs. He helped us with the luggage to top level when there was no lift. I believe He will go extra miles to all who stay at his place.

SingaporeThere's not much we didn't like, though.
It is very near to the seaside and the night market in Hualien City. Although the room we stayed in has got a partial view of sea, it is still a great place to stay. Not forgetting that, they do serve good sumptuous breakfast.

United StatesThe hotel locks the front door at night until 6am so we couldn't get out in the morning to catch our early train. We tried to get a hold of staff to escape but nobody answered. We literally had to climb out a window to escape the hotel in the morning.
The staff was super friendly! The night Market was down the street and the ocean was across. Our room had a view of the beach which was nice!

GermanyUnfortunately the cleanliness left something to be desired. It had visibly not been dusted for a long time, and hairs do not belong in the fridge. In the bathroom, apart from the edge of the washbasin, there is no storage space for toiletries, razor etc. and only one towel rail. But the vanity unit was too dirty to be used. The liquid soap at the washbasin was clearly heavily diluted with water, which left a strange impression. The unusually soft mattress didn't bother me, but it's not for people with back problems. Already at 8 am, at the breakfast buffet, with the exception of the rice, all the supposedly warm dishes were not just lukewarm, but downright cold, some of them as if they had been left from the day before. There is no fresh fruit and no possibility to make a hot tea. At least there are no little packages for butter, jam etc., which means less plastic waste.
The hotel owner is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has two buildings about 500 metres apart. Probably because of the low occupancy in the low season, I didn't get the room I booked in the subsidiary building but a larger one in the main building, where also the reception is located. Many thanks for that! In this respect, the room was more than big enough for one person. However, four people might have problems fitting in their luggage. This also applies to the dresser drawer and wardrobe, which are sufficient for one person for a short stay. A full-size fridge provides enough storage space for your own food, but it hums quite loudly. It didn't bother me, but it might bother noise-sensitive people. The sea view across a car park is very nice, although there is still a row of houses in between. Across this car park you can get to the promenade in a minute, which is car-free thanks to a tunnel underneath for heavy traffic and therefore very quiet. There is a water dispenser in the corridor on each floor, which means you can save plastic waste instead of using the water bottles provided. However, according to the notice, the hot water from the water dispenser is only 65 degrees. For boiling water, e.g. for tea, you should come to reception, as there is only a thermos flask in the room, but no kettle.

GermanyWhen you get into the hotel you immediatly notice the smell of mold. Especially inside the elevator. The room was in a very bad state. Interior was old and there was quite a bit of mold around the windows and on the drapes which were also very dusty. There's tiny insects (NOT bed bugs) crawling everywhere (bed, nightstand) so you can't leave out any food or dirty dishes. Faucet in the bathroom was lose and the cabinet underneath the sink very dirty. We only stayed one night instead of 4
Room was very big and had a huge window from which you could see the ocean. The owner of the hotel is very nice and refunded us for our whole stay, after we left
