(I am expressing the views of our whole group rather than just myself here.) Actually, quite a few things. The main reason why we chose this location was the proximity to the Sanxiantai Bridge where we wanted to watch the sunrise. Due to the neverending bridge repair and the typhoon that, of course, had to hit Chenggong that very night, we missed the sunrise part. Naturally, this was beyond the control of the facility. However, there are a few issues that could be fixed: the shared bathrooms and showers that leave much to be desired, esp. those on the ground floor, in terms of cleanliness. Maybe it's me but the last time I used a shared toilet was in college so I took special measures to clean it up first. Next, the breakfast. What was OK for an average Taiwanese lady was more of an appetizer for me, but then I weigh almost a metric cent. Then there were the "double-bed only" rooms. I traveled with friends who eventually refused to share beds so we had to pay extra 500 NTD for each added bed. In any case, the mattress was rather soft and shaky so two people wouldn't sleep on it very comfortably. Finally, convenience. We rode bikes on our trip from Hualien to Taitung, which is a rather popular activity, however, this B&B didn't have a bike shelter of any kind so our bikes got nicely soaked during the night and in the morning, with the heavy wind, it was quite an adventure loading them again before the ride. So while this place got a lot of things right, there is still room for improvement. For the price, I stayed in better B&B's along the east coast.

The owner and her family are very talkative and helpful. They helped to patch up our friend who hurt her knee riding down the hill. They have a speciality drink made of gac (Momordica cochinchinensis or 木鱉果) for breakfast - you will hardly find it anywhere else. Overall, the place is quiet and relaxing. The dining room is large and comfy with a huge TV screen. You can lay down on the floor mat and kick back there watching TV. If you are into star-watching, you can simply climb up to the roof overviewing the seacoast. If the weather is alright and you are too lazy to make the trip to the bridge early morning, you can even watch the sunrise from there.
