Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandExcellent breakfast! Room and hotel area was clean. Located in the middle of Stone Town. When you learn some routes, you do not get lost. Before that, just take it as an adventure!

United KingdomThe balcony in room 311 is loose and unsafe. Coconuts and palm fronds fell on my head whilst I was reading, giving me a headache and bruises which were bothersome for 2 days. Whilst this in itself is an occupational hazard of being surrounded by such trees, one of our fellow guests had alerted the staff to the precarity of the fruit on the tree in question and its safety, for three days prior to this.
I loved the little signs and sayings painted around the property, the book - swap area, the beautiful trees in the restaurant/pool area. Staff were friendly. Rooms were clean.

NetherlandsGreat location in town nearby the shore and lots of cafes and restaurants around. Beautiful garden with pool and restaurant. The breakfast is nice with a lot of variety. Rooms are comfortable and come with a mini fridge and water boiler. I can recommend this place to stay for a few nights to explore town.

BelgiumLocation maybe not the best. Had to walk a bit (10-15min) to do some sightseeing. Pool had troubled water so didn’t look very clean (but it was acceptable, we still swam in it).
Good vibes overall. A lot of options for breakfast. Very helpful staff, could ask them anything. Pool was refreshing and had an affordable bar/restaurant beside it.

AustriaBreakfast had space for improvement. The coffee and the fruit were tasty but the rest was warm food like omelette and meat stew but no cold stuff like cheese, jam, ham, ... A bit heavy for the stomach in the morning. For unclear reasons the room service didn't change our towels despite the heavy humidity so on the 3rd day I personally brought them to the reception asking for fresh ones. The drain in the shower was partly blocked so we had to constantly turn off the water while taking a shower to prevent building a pool. Because of the open structure of the building it could be loud, especially when the other guests were talking very loud late in the night, making it difficult to fall asleep.
Friendly staff, easy check in/out, beautiful garden and bar, clean room. Good location, you can reach anywhere in walking distance. They provided us with fresh towels to use the pool shower after the check out.

Zambia- Pool only open 7-7 - very little space in the room. The bed in my room was so big it took up all the space in the room and didn’t leave any space for a suitcase or just walk around the room - restaurant is mediocre- the pizza I had was not great. - the hotel is not accessible by car. You have to walk a bit from the road (not much and all drivers help you) but I feel it has to be mentioned by hotel
- There’s a working AC and mosquito nets. - The hotel provided me with a nice breakfast when I had to leave early for my flight.

United KingdomPayment was demanded in cash when I arrived and I was escorted to the nearest ATM which didn't help because I couldn't withdraw the required amount. I was particularly annoyed because I had guaranteed the room with my credit so the money was available. This business with credit cards - it is erratic. One minute cards work and then they don't because of the signal. Television had to be tuned and then I could only get a couple of stations, Africa Today and a channel showing a drama in Arabic. Also at night even if I switched it off, the television light lit up the room.
This is situated in the middle of Stone Town but is enclosed with two courtyards and a restaurant. My room was on the third floor. There are plants and coconut palms within the courtyard/ restaurant and a small swimming pool. By the lift is a bookcase with second hand books (I contributed a couple of books). The restaurant was excellent value at dinner and welcoming. My room had a kitchenette. My bed had a mosquito net and I particularly liked the fact that every evening a woman came to sort the mosquito net out, close the windows and spray the room with mosquito killer.

NetherlandsThe pools were too dirty. You can't swim in them. From the large pool, you can't even see the bottom since the water is so murky and cloudy. The other small pool is slightly better, but still way too cloudy to try to swim in it. Breakfast was a little too simple and not super nice (some stall bread, few options), but still okay and they will fry an egg to your liking.
Location is ok, staff is nice, security is good because there are Masai Mara warriors protection the guests, including at night. There is a mosquito net present, which is nice ..with some holes so bring your own too if you are in malaria season.

LuxembourgThe area is under construction so expect drilling, and other construction noises., We got a room in the central alley, after the reception and hence continuous passage of people which makes the room not peaceful as it is not soundproof at all.
The pool area is nice. One waitress at the pool restaurant was super nice. The hotel is ideally situated, close to many curio shops and the food market. Really good breakfast, we have loved it, great variety and good service.
