A downside for me (which isn’t the guesthouse’s fault at all) was how noisy it was at night. The music from a local nightclub blared into my room until about 3am (sometimes a bit later) each night. I probably wouldn’t have stayed here if I’d known how noisy it would be at night unfortunately, despite everything else about my stay being positive, as I’m a sensitive sleeper.

The owner and staff were so helpful and friendly (shout out to Pili, who was particularly helpful). My room and en-suite bathroom were clean and comfortable and the air conditioning was appreciated! The food was delicious, and breakfast (which is included) was also good - fresh fruits and a variety of cooked breakfasts, such as scrambled eggs on toast or pancakes with Nutella. Service was very good, and the seating area outside was comfortable and sociable. The guesthouse is in a good location - outside the most touristy area but still a 10 mins walk from the beach. Really good value for what you get.

Sometimes had a hard time figuring out the hot water but for the most part the shower was warm. The bathroom did not have a door so be aware of that when booking. The location was abit hard for us to find but once we found the location it was very easy to remember where it was and how to get to it.

The food was very good and the menu for dinner and lunch was a good selection. The staff are very nice and the room was a good size aswell as having the option to use air conditioning or a fan.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The accomodation is very clean with comfortable rooms and at a short walking distance from Nungwi beach. The breakfast was the best we've had on Zanzibar.

The whole accommodation area is very cozy and safe (guarded 24/7). The room was spacious and clean with every day cleaning service if desired. Delicious breakfast were included during our stay. Additionally there is an option to order various meals for a fair price. The owners and the staff were all very kind, helpful and arranged everything we needed. They gave us good tips for trips, provided us with needed equipments and even prepared very early breakfast for us when we had to leave early in the morning.

It is not easy to find the property. You will need to support from the locals living nearby.

The location is convenient (6 min walk from the closest beach), but it is not easy to find the property. The staff is very friendly. The food was very good. The price of renting is adequate. Overall, it is worth paying.

Location is close to the beach but can be difficult to walk back at night because of a small section of unlit road. You can just take a taxi though!

Big rooms, clean and comfortable facilities, very good breakfast. The garden is a good place to relax away from the busy centre of Nungwi. The staff were all very friendly and efficient.

The WiFi doesn’t reach the rooms- but it’s not really that big of a problem! There is a nearby club that has parties everyday, which can be a bit noisy sometimes.

This place is definitely value for money! It was very clean and the breakfast was exceptional- the best that we’ve had in Zanzibar (it alternated everyday). The ladies were very nice and helpful, always present. The AC was very decent and the room was spacious. It is about 5-10min walk to the beach.

No glass windows, so all the parties from the outside are literally in your room music-wise :) But I kind of knew it would happen, so no big deal.

I basically needed a "home base" in Zanzibar, where to safely store my work computer, my passport, my suitcase, my extra clothes and cash during my stay. I travelled all around the island with just a little day-bag with one set of spare clothes and bikini, spending occasional nights in different hotels in different villages and beach areas, so Avocado was a good safe place to keep my laptop etc, and it was always good to come back to Avocado after my adventures to different areas and mainland. It was modest, safe, spacious. Wifi was alright for working (but not for Zoom video, only voice), emails and social media, and the wifi signal reached my room pretty well.

this was our best hotel in terms of price and quality !! we traveled around Zanzibar for exactly a month and the Avocado Guest House was the last hotel on our trip and I will seriously tell you that the hotel is worthy of the highest rating. Fresh linen, air conditioning, comfortable bed, hot water, super tasty breakfast and all this is 5 minutes from the beautiful beach. A complete set for you to relax perfectly. And they also have very fast internet, we work remotely and this is important for us. I also want to say that their chef deserves a separate huge thank you for his skill, be sure to order octopus, pasta in white sauce with seafood, burger and chicken salad at their restaurant

Very calm and comfortable hotel 5 minutes from the best beach in Zanzibar. The room was clean and spacious with comfortable mattress and pillows. There is an air conditioner and a good water pressure. An excellent hearty breakfast with a variety of fruits. There is a restaurant on the territory, where we dined inexpensively and very tasty. Friendly staff and hosts. We lived in three different hotels in Zanzibar and this hotel is definitely our favorite.

The location wasn’t terrible, it was fairly close to the beach, but not the best walk when it’s nighttime.

The shower in our room is not separated from the toilet (= no curtain or wall inbetween), so the toilet is always wet if you’re showering. It was also difficult to regulate the temperature of the shower. It was either boiling hot or freezing cold and it takes awhile to get inbetween.

Location is good despite the fact that it’s A little bit off road and hard to get there with car though. There are none (or maybe phew but we didn’t find one) signs of the hotel. It’s only a 3-4min walk to the beach and mainroad. The breakfast is mostly fruit and something else such as pancakes, eggs, brown hash,… you can’t complain.

We wish there were sign boards to locate the property from the main road, in that case people can find ‘em easily.

The place is neat and clean, well maintained. Very homey and cozy. It will only take you 5mins walk to the beach. The owner, Vladimir, was really helpful as well as Helema and Chef Medi for nice food and hospitality.
