The advertisement noted there was Wifi, hot water for shower, neither were available.

Location was good, however, the property that was advertised on bookings.com was not the property we were taken to, the location was about 20mins from original property, we were informed after we arrived, that the original property (advertised) was under renovation

    - The bathroom light did not work and needed to be repaired. - The mosquito nets had holes in them.

We stayed two nights before and after our Kilimanjaro day hike and had a reasonably comfortable stay. The check-in process was simple and smooth, and the owner was always nearby to make sure everything was going well. We also asked for laundry service, which was taken care of right away. Located on the campus of a local university, it was quiet and safe for tourists. The city center is also easily accessible by tuk-tuk and taxis. Rates are fair, too.

No wifi throughout my entire stay there. The staff was kind enough to lend his hotspot but it shouldn't have to be that way. Sometimes there were hot showers, sometimes they were non-existent. The towel they gave me had some weird odour on it but luckily I had my own towel to use. They could have given a thicker blanket as it gets quite chilly at night. Location is a bit of a distance from the centre so it's quite dangerous to walk alone when it gets dark. I almost got mugged on one night but managed to fend myself off.

Because I happened to be the only guest there and it was low season, I was lucky to receive a room upgrade from a dorm room to a private room with no extra charges. Although it did feel lonely at times as there were no other guests to interact with. The room was clean. I like that the hostel also offers a tour to the hot spring and waterfall areas at a much cheaper rate compared to other tour offices in Moshi (p.s they're a rip off). And they have a cute paka (cat in Swahili) named Cutie.

Nothing much except that it isn't easy to find when you come the first time. Some sign boards along the way would help. As a side note, the property is a bit outside of the city I. E. around 2.5 kms from the bus stop. A shared Tuk Tuk costs about 509 TZS only so isn't a big deal. You then hv to walk around 500 mts to get to the property from the main gate with is guarded all the time.

Wonderful place with a nice African Decor. Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. I was the only guest so pretty much had the entire place for me. Kasim, who takes care of the property helped in every way possible and was always available with a smile.

A bit hidden and difficult to find with the map and the many of the kitchen equipment were not working.

The ambience is great, the art and space is beautifully done. The rooms were clean, hot water showers and quiet place. The owner (Amani) & staff (Kasimu) were very helpful.

A little out of town and it was obvious they did not know we had even booked via booking.com when we arrived and we’re not expecting us. It was therefore a little disorienting at the beginning but lucky they had a room for us

There is no AC in the rooms though it says so in booking.com. Thankfully the had a fan for me. Othervise I could not have slept there. The internet is limited.

Really good vibes. Felt like a home from the moment I stepped in. John is fantastic and takes care of everything you need. There is a great view of Kilimanjaro just outside the hostel. Great value for your money.

Even if we are in Moshi, during the night can be hot, but insiede the room there is no fan, the fridge was off for all my stay so i couldn't buy anything to cook and keep the food fresh. They dont provide the key of the main door, so if there is no one at home and you are at home before them you will stay outside waiting. There is no wi-fi. They have a wonderfull cat but no one provide food or water ( i bought some cat food and i hope they will still continue to feed him).

    The location is good,

If I could put 0, I would. Save your time and do not go there. These people are everything but professional. Their phone number AND location on Google Maps has changed and they didn’t care to update it or inform the guests of the change. I arrived in Moshi at 6pm and got a tuk tuk to drive me to the place. We couldn’t find the place so we tried to call the three different numbers we had (Google Maps, Booking.com and Whatsapp number that they even sent me a message from). NO ONE cared to answer the phone or messages. After one hour of waiting in the dark, I had no choice but to book another place and cross town to get there. According to locals, it’s not the first incident with Kilimanjaro Mad Monkey that they see happening. Luckily, Tanzanians are very helpful people and were there to support me. Bad, bad, bad.

I had a fantastic time at Kilimanjaro Mad Monkey’s Hostel. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, going above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. A special mention must go to the host, Amani, who was not only welcoming but took the time to show me around Moshi town and other interesting places on the outskirts of the city. The property itself is ideally located within walking distance to the city center, providing convenient access to all the local amenities while maintaining a sense of tranquility and safety. Surrounded by lush greenery, it serves as a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The entire property was well-organized and exuded a sense of calm and relaxation. The Hostel is a great choice for affordable rooms without compromising quality. The staff was incredibly friendly and even gave me a room upgrade. I intended to stay for one week but ended up extending my stay to three weeks. Overall, my stay at Kilimanjaro Mad Monkey’s Hostel was a delightful experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful stay in Moshi.
