There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room but the staff will give you a bug spray to use.

It was perfect for our needs. Short walk to the beach, the staff were lovely, a fan and air con in our room. Comfy bed, hot water and nice breakfast :)

Light of Zanzibar Hotel is located just a 2-5 minutes walk from the stunning Nungwi Beach (depending if you go through the town or straight to the beach). It has everything you might need, comfortable beds, hot water, mosquito nets and AC. There is a fridge outside your room which you share with the two other rooms on your floor to keep your water nice and cold. Paul and all the other staff are absolutely wonderful, kind and very helpful, just ask if you need anything, they will definitely do all they can to help you out. The served breakfast is always delicious, it varies a little every day so you never eat the same thing. Once we had to take our breakfast an hour early and everyone was so nice that we left with satisfied stomachs. If were ever back to Zanzibar, we’ll stay here again!

First thing is first: Paul (the receptionist) was the best host we ever had, anywhere. The amount of care and comfort he provided was invaluable. Rooms were nice, AC working all the time was needed and power outages were really short and unnoticeable. The shortcut to the beach was about 100m, and the village life was booming. The hotel is very clean, quiet and peaceful. Very close to the beach (2 minutes walking), where you can find many restaurants. Everyday they serve different and fresh breakfast. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Especially Paul that went above and beyond, also showing me around, giving me useful advices and making sure my stay was great everyday. I will be coming back again!

Perfect location close to both the beach and shops. The rooms are clean and fresh and equipped with AC and fan. Beds are comfortable and the breakfast is good, served with fresh fruits, pancakes/toast/mandazi, great coffee and a bottle of water. During my stay they set up the card payment system witch makes it easier to pay. The lobby is a great place for chilling and to meet other guests or interact with the staff. The staff are all nice and sweet but what makes this hotel so special is Paul. I have never met anyone with such a sense of service. He literally goes the extra mile for the guests, showing me around the village and helped me with everything I needed. Without his advice and knowledge, my stay would not have been as great as it came out to be. Since I was traveling alone with no earlier experience of Africa, I felt kind of lost but he was always there to guide and help with a smile. He is irreplaceable and I hope the owner knows how rare it is to have such staff.

There is no single thing we didn't like. Everything is PERFECT here.

This is the best place you could stay in Nungwi. The hotel is excellent, with hot water all time, clean rooms, facilities, very good wifi connection and air conditioner. The location is gorgeous, near the beach and near the shops, breakfast is not the same every day and is big and tasteful. The manager and the staff are really wonderful persons. Paul is remarkable. They helped us with many things we needed. We felt here better than in Marriott...Everything is new...and the people from here make you feel very welcomed and important for them! I do recommend this hotel to everyone wants to be treated in the most beautiful way and to have a very, very nice holiday! Thank you for all you did for us! We can't wait to come back!

My friend and I had a fantastic experience in Zanzibar. This was particularly due to staff member Paul at the hotel. He is incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was comfortable. From check-in to the beautiful breakfast laid on every morning and even going out of his way to take us around the local community! The hotel itself was well-maintained, with clean rooms and a 2 minute walk to the most beautiful beach! I highly recommend this establishment for its friendly staff and excellent service!!! We will be coming back again!

Faysal works at the hotel and is very kind and helpful. If you are looking for something, he knows where to go and he will even walk you to places you want to go if he has time and if you wish of course. He also arranges a taxi, tuk tuk and massage for me. Such a kind-hearted person. I had a late flight and was therefore allowed to check out later, which was very beneficial.

My stay here was absolutely perfect, the room is clean and has a lot of light in it, there’s hot water in the shower, quite fast WiFi, really nice breakfast, I also loved the location - only a couple of minutes away from the beach and from some good restaurants. I was actually supposed to stay there for one week initially and then move to another place in Nungwi but I ended up canceling my second accommodation just to stay longer in this hotel because of stuff working there - they are all incredibly friendly people, especially Paul working at the reception, he helped me so much during my stay with everything from explaining where to buy fruits/veggies and what the real prices are to tips how to get around the island, many thanks to him!

Nothing to dislike

We stayed for 5 nights at Light of Zanzibar. It is very clean, has AC and all the staff are friendly and nice people. The masai that works at the reception helps the tourist in any kind of need .. from buying souvenirs for a good price and not a tourist price to recommandation for food and places to eat, buying fruits, and making fresh juice. He is really making the best so the tourists feel the real Zanzibar experience. Breakfast is simple but tasty. Bedshiets are perfect white and clean. Rooms are small and cozy. From the hotel to the beach is a 3 minutes walk and the beach is awesome. From the hotel to market/ restaurant /souvenir / pharmacy, taxi it is also a 3 minutes walk. We recommend this hotel.

Very nice rooms with comfortable beds, the common area is also very comfortable and looks nice. The staff organized us also a transfer to the ferry in Zanzibar Town.
