Perfect location just 1 min from the beach, good vibe all around, nice bar and also good breakfast which by the way was included in the price. Overall, it was a very good stay, also very clean toilets/showers. Good place to meet people, too. The staff was very polite and attentive, that's the spot to be if you want meet people, great atmosphere all around.

This might be a personal preference but from 10.30pm it was quiet time and we could only whisper outside. Also, the room was quite hot, but was manageable.

It was a very friendly and welcoming accommodation. All the staff were so helpful, especially Hans, Joshua and the italian owner. The food was delicious and the vibes were great. The beach was right outside which was amazing. We would absolutely love to return one day and stay in Makofi.

Lack of communication: We booked a tour with them and we found out the tour was cancelled only in the morning. They could have told us 24 hours before, they didn't tell us the night before and we were there before dinner and after. And in the morning we had breakfast but again no one told us. However if I didn't go to ask none of the staff was aware that this important information had to be share with us asap!? This was very disappointed. We managed to book it on the beach , because thanks to the fact that i wanted to ask about another service I said that we were back from the tour at 3 pm and this is when they said the tour was cancelled. I do recommend this place just double check this things 😜

The place is beautiful, the position is perfect. You are right at 2 min to the beach and from there you can get anywhere. We rent a motorbike through them. We booked a taxi with them . The room was clean. You have the mosquito spray available in case you want to be extra careful, but there were near to none mosquitos during our stay. The food was good. Delicious the octopus!! We paid with PayPal with no extra fees. The staff was very nice and approachable. The service good! The bathrooms sparkly clean!!

They could put airconditioning in the rooms. And as a benefit to both Makofi and tourists a small pool is a great idea to consider.

When booking I fully knew I had a fan but after visiting the island and feeling how hot it was I would recommend AC. No fault of the hostel. Also the island has power issues so sometimes the fan would even go out, again no fault of the hostel as it’s a whole island issue.

Such a cute hostel to stay in while visiting. The food and cocktails were awesome! I loved that there was a dart board and areas to hang out in. Loved the refillable water program that is only a dollar a day. They even cleaned our reusable water bottles for us. Nice to have your own couch to sit in outside the room. The area and rooms were clean.

Makofi is a wonderful place. Very welcoming, the crew is lovely and super helpful with everything. They make amazing food, especially the burger and pizza. I especially liked the Aloe Vera corner to treat your sunburns! Lot's of little details like that make this place unique. It's also perfectly located 2 min away from the beach and an ATM. I met the best people there and would come again, no hesitation :D

Makofi is an amazing place to stay 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵 A perfect place for SOLO TRAVELLERS, but not only. I felt 200% safe there. I left my stuffs, phone money and other belongings on the table and always find them there. The staff is just awesome. They made my stay incredible. Thanks to everyone 🙏 You can ask them for any tips, they are so friendly and always willing to help. I really loved the Makofi design. This place has an amazing vibe. I stayed there for 9 nights and i felt already home. I arrived very early in the morning, they let me leave my stuffs there and chill on the nice swings until my check-in time. The place has a a very positive vibe, you can meet a lot of people there to chill or go out. The best burgers and pizza!!!!! Daily housekeeping. I highly recommend the Makofi guest house 🔝🔝🔝

We booked a snorkeling tour through Makofi & were very excited. As it was pretty early in the morning we had to get up and get breakfast very early. So we did, but then we heard that the tour was cancelled as there were not enough people. They couldve warned us that this was able to happen, because we couldve made a plan B. However it was fine!

Our favorite place in whole Zanzibar. We had such a good stay here and wished we could have stayed for another week or so!! The staff is very kind & helpful. The place itself is so beautifully made with so much detail: from the beautiful red tree that is the middle of the hostel, to all the beautifully designed clean rooms, to the amazing bathroom. Its honestly such an amazing place & something like we have never seen before. The food is amazing too! We enjoyed the Makofi bbq which was such a great night with really good food. The breakfast was amazing & easy to have at whatever time you wanted in the morning.

Everything was just perfect! One of the best hostels i have ever stayed! Good choice if you're a solo traveller as you can easily meet other people! Tasty food, amazing staff, good location, super super clean (specially the bathrooms!)...and i loved the silence rule after 22.30! Asante sana Makofi!

The air conditioner was placed above my bed , if swithed out it was too hot inside, if switched on it blowed the cold air directly on me

Nice guest house close to the beach, friendly, mindful staff, good breakfast. I specially . I was specially impressed by their commitment to the environment. There was fresh water available for the quests to fill up their empty bottles decrease the plastic waste. When we went to 3 days safari , though checked out we could leave our luggages they stored and put into the room when we got back.
