Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaAs I said ,the choices for breakfast should be multiple! The walls are very thin and you can hear all the neighbors! I had the experience to witness a fight between guests which wasn’t nice because they were yelling and screaming in the middle of the night in the front yard ! Nungwi is an area far from the airport! Something like 2 hours (3-4pm Zanzibar time)
It’s good that is near the beach! Walking 10 minutes and you will find a place with sun-beds,restaurants and shops! The rooms are clean and the staff is very nice! I like the fruits and juice in the morning but the main course is only eggs ! The owner will help with a taxi driver which is trustful and nice!

United KingdomThe number of power cut/ outages per day is bad, I think they need to get.an electrician to survey the building. Its a pity because the people are so great.. If they get the power sorted out I'd give a 9 or 10..
The management/ staff workers are great, friendly and welcoming

United KingdomOnly minor issue was that the air conditioning unit was not working in our room on the first night. The staff had warned us of this upon checking in. Staff were very helpful in moving us to a different room for the remainder of our stay after we asked to do so.
Breakfast was excellent. Staff were all very friendly, helpful and attentive. Views of the sea from the upper floors. 3 mins walk from Nungwi beach and a short walk from seafront restaurants. Room was very clean, comfortable and as advertised in the photos.

United KingdomLoud at nighttime which made it difficult to sleep. The walls were a bit thin too so you could hear other people’s alarm. The stairs to the rooms upstairs are also quite narrow so not accessible for everyone
The staff was nice and breakfast was included. There was also a kettle in the room and the balcony was lovely to sit at.

IrelandDifficult to find the hotel, especially if you arrive at night as there are no street lights. Streets are not properly recorded on Google Maps so it would be really helpful to get directions from the hotel ahead of arrival.

GermanyThe hotel itself can use some freshen up. There are some patches of mold and the sink and shower weren't in great shape. However, everything was fully functional, hot water and all. But also no trash bin, otoh. The price is right, however and this needs to be put in perspective: Nungwi is a very poor place (however, surprisingly safe!) and the accommodation here is either cheap and "not amazing", or 4-5 stars resorts. This hotel is somewhere in the middle.
The people servicing the hotel are nice; not "fake" nice, but real. They're accommodating and trying to make your stay nice. On check in, the bed's decorated with actual flowers, colourful and scented. The room is very clean, there's AC (though we didn't need to use it) and also a fan. The view's nice and the last floor, where breakfast's served comes with ocean views and a nice panorama. The hotel is close to the beach (some 2 minutes walk). Breakfast comes with fresh fruits (my highlight), good pancakes, eggs & co. There's also free internet!

Polandyou need to walk a bit if you want to stay properly on the beach, even though it says it is next to the beach. The rooms are very basic and could be better taken care of. Breakfast tasty but limited, instant coffee available only. No safe in the room. We had different expectations choosing hotel with 9.2 overall score.
super friendly and helpful staff, especially the lady who takes care of the guests. location is good 1 min walking distance to the ocean, many restaurants around, AC in the room, welcome fruits and fresh fruits for the breakfast, hotel is surrounded by big wall, so we felt really safe.

UkraineDuring our recent stay at Hotel Mambo Boutique Nungwi (December 5-23), we feel compelled to share a comprehensive review to provide potential guests with a nuanced perspective. Accommodation Issues: Our experience was marred by a few noteworthy challenges. Firstly, the room displayed an unexpected presence of ants, including on the bed, compromising the standard of cleanliness we anticipated. Electrical Concerns (!!!): We encountered significant electrical issues throughout our stay. The frequent and disruptive flickering of lights, occurring sometimes up to five times per minute, adversely affected essential amenities such as the air conditioner. This, in turn, impeded our ability to charge electronic devices and resulted in the accumulation of water in the fridge. Connectivity Challenges: The promise of seamless connectivity was undermined by inconsistent Wi-Fi, causing inconvenience for guests reliant on a stable online connection. Hygiene and Maintenance: Hygiene concerns were evident in the bathroom, where a substantial mold infestation was observed. This not only raised questions about cleanliness standards but also brought into focus the overall maintenance of the property. Unexpected Mold: One of the pillows exhibited signs of mold, falling short of the expected cleanliness standards and affecting our overall comfort. Transportation Setback: Despite our attempts to prearrange airport transfer, the hotel's unresponsiveness left us without transportation. (transfer is mentioned in facilities list) Staffing and Service: The absence of reception staff on multiple occasions complicated issue resolution and information retrieval, revealing a gap in service provision. Culinary Monotony: Over our 19-day stay, the breakfast offerings remained consistently monotonous, suggesting an opportunity for improvement in diversifying culinary options for extended-stay guests. (I have to admit the breakfast is tasty) Security: literally everybody could enter the territory
Friendly and polite stuff Distance to the beach (1 min walk) Mosquito net Hot water Cleaning occurs every other day
