Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesKiwengwa Beach itself is a little disappointing. It is more of a bay and therefore has a lot of seaweed and mud build up which can sometimes make it look less clean. Not an ideal swimming location but Mvuvi do provide water shoes to make the experience more enjoyable.
We have booked this hotel as our wedding venue and we went ahead to scout the location and hotel. The hotel was very accommodating. By far the nicest property on the stretch of Kiwengwa beach. Wonderful personal touches throughout the stay and a quiet oasis. Felt very private.

The hotel is traditionally designed with a bright and open feel throughout. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Toiletries were provided and were of high quality. Staff were lovely and responded to all needs. Beds were made twice a day, an unexpected surprise. Breakfast was fantastic, a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and fruit juice, followed by fruit platters and cooked breakfast, toast or yogurt. A sister beach club is round the corner allowing for a 2-in-1 feel to staying at this hotel. The private beach area with security guards was welcomed. This area has wide long beaches with soft sand. Lots of water activities to get stuck into. 10/10

United StatesI would have liked at Least a light blanket on the bed, not just a sheet. It was too warm to sleep without A/C but then it became too cold without a blanket, even with A/C on lowest setting.
Location was great except I found Kiwengwa Beach to be the most polluted beach I have ever stayed on And was surprised that the resorts make no attempt To clean debris off the beach. Breakfast was Good

Perfect service, best breakfast, and friendly staff. For those who stay there, make sure to take a dhow cruise to feed fish across the coral reef during low tide...it's beautiful and magical.

SwitzerlandThe bed was not very comfortable and we heard a lot the people above us (family with children). It is preferable to ask for rooms at the first floor and not ground level. The activities were a bit expensive compared to other hotels. We also find the laundry expensive compared to other hotels.
Very nice hôtel on the beach. The hotel itself is small, which is very pleasant. There is a lot of massai on the beach trying to sell you stuff, but you will never be disturbed while lying on the sunbed in the hotel thanks to security, which is very nice too. The employees and managers were awesome and take care of everything no matter the time of the day. We also had special attention (2 times) for our honeymoon (diner on the beach) that was amazing. Restaurant is very nice, good food at good price for such an hotel. The beach lounge, which is also part of the facilities, is amazing with good music and nice pizzas ! Go there for sure.

SwitzerlandOnly comment would be about the dinner menu and to have more variety.
The hotel was absolutely perfect for a couple. It was quiet but had what you needed. The staff were so incredibly nice and welcoming. The breakfast was nice. Dinner options were limited for over a week stay, but still tasty. The room was cosy and clean.

ItalyGreat resort to enjoy Zanzibar! The facility is amazing and the limited number of rooms makes it intimate and authentic. Carolina and Andrej are two great hosts and together with the rest of the staff they have done their best to satisfy our requests, organize different excursions and make our stay perfect. The resort hosts a kite school and that's a great plus if you're into it. Finally the cuisine is very good!

United StatesMist of the rooms were taken up by a Finnish yoga group and sometimes the overtook spaces. it’s a small property so it mattered. we just went elsewhere when that happened.
Lovely, peaceful well cared for property with a nice beach. That said, when the tide goes it is not good for swimming, which was true everywhere. The hotel will arrange a boat out to the reef for you. The staff was helpful and attentive. The owner always seemed nearby and helped me arrange a massage and a pedicure on site, as well as a tour of Stone Town. There is a restaurant on site which has a nice but limited menu— no worries they own another property next door which has many options. There are these hanging swing beds that are amazingly seductive—I could have stayed all day.

NigeriaThe beach is clean, nice white sand, relatively quiet and safe as it has private security which is great for travelling with families, however I did not like that you needed water shoes to go into the ocean (mostly due to risk of sea urchins), I also found beaches of much nicer water colors in the north (ie Matemwe and or Mnemba), not exactly sure how are beaches further south... however I would recommend researching the beaches better in advance next time. Because of the ocean not being that "child friendly" our kids kept asking to use the swimming pool, which they liked very much, however I would have expected the swimming pool to be much nicer (the hotel swimming pool is small, does not have ocean view, water was cold, and not good access to sea breeze either... so it feels a bit restricted to what I would have expected otherwise). The wine offering was also very limited, I very well understand this is not the fault of the hotel, distribution of goods and services is restricted overall in the island and the hotel do an amazing job to put up service levels with such scarcity, however I would have expected this to be better.
I was travelling with small kids and found the hotel staff to be very supportive overall. Great service level, staff always looking into ways to improve your experience. Hotel rooms are basic but clean and very well set up. Hotel has few rooms which makes it more private and boutique. Food options are relatively restricted but overall very good quality. I particularly liked their kitesurfing shop next door, staff there is also very supportive and their kite surfing material is of top quality. I also liked very much the private tour organized by the hotel staff for us to visit Mnemba island and Matemwe beaches (they are amazing). Big special thanks to Caroline, Andre and Grace for their support throughout our stay.
