Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaMaybe more variety food on breakfast.
I really loved the location, Nungwi beach is so nice. I felt safe, there are guards making sure beach boys doesn’t bother you. The stuff is really really nice, always there for you to help with what you need. I loved the dinner, every night something different (before arriving I read some reviews that the food is not enough, but it was) I also loved the dinners with live music.

BelgiumWe felt limited selection of drinks at bar. Locals around the beach may be someties annoying with their offers.
Territory is very beautiful during day and very nicely lighted at night. Beach - awesome, clean sand, no sea urchins to step in. Very small tides, can swim at any time (unlike in other places on zanzi). The hotel is located in a relatively crowded area with many hotels and it is easy to walk far along the beach to see and visit other places (restaurants, shops). After such walking we felt like we chose the best hotel for us in the area! The hotel offers evening cultural programm (dinner at beach and dance/music show) twice a week - very nice! Food was good as well.

South AfricaMaybe this is not directly linked to My Blue Hotel but the locals on the beach have become irritating by approaching us all the time where me and my wife wanted some private time on the beach. This resulted in me becoming rude and irritated. I understand that they are eager for a different conversation and marketing their business but to keep on repeating the same things (marketing their shop and approaching us day after day) have become unwanted.
Thank you to all the staff who were always friendly and eager to assist. A special thanks to Stefaan, Harrison, Uno, Foulthee, Diego and Elias who took customer service to the next level.

QatarThe crows 🐦⬛ disturbing during the day they don’t allow you to eat during breakfast or lunch they just gather around you and steal your food. However I don’t think that’s the fault of the hotel cause they can’t do anything about bird flying around maar ja! That’s the only thing aside this it’s a very good place to relax and enjoy your vacation.
The view of the beach from the pole, how welcoming the staff and everyone was and the fact that they had security guards 24/7 at the premises was amazing the food option kept changing each day and I must say the chef is really good cause all the food options tasted so good and I’m not even exaggerating 😅. Very nice hotel I’d recommend this to anyone which I have already done to 4people who are planing to go there soon, we didn’t want to leave but however had to leave 3dats earlier than our check out date due to unforeseen circumstances.

South AfricaI didn't like almost everything, our room was not clean, it was smelly, we complained about this to the reception, then we were moved to the Villa. The Villa itself was a joke. It could be mistaken for a hostel, the toilet brush was dirt and disgusting, the telephone was not working, and the geyser was also not working. It was fixed the following day in the morning. The breakfast was a joke, with no options, no value for money. All we wanted was to get out of that hostel as soon as possible
The hotel is closer to the beach

TurkeyRoom furniture quality is poor not fancy or stylish design interior. When you see the perfect garden interior rooms are modest. Although it is very clean you might not feel it because of old fournitures or curtains . The water in room is 1 usd, it is not a big amount but water supposed to be free. I can understand mini bar but water not.
Amazing, friendly , lovely staff. They always come up with solution special thanks to Vanessa. Garden and beach is really paradise. Foods are quite reasonable, free coconuts on the beach big plus. It is very clean. Lovely friendly cats around .

HungaryNothing!!! Everything was perfect!!!!!! :)
We had 4 accommodations in Zanzibar, this was the 3rd stop and we were very satisfied. The beach is simply phenomenal, brutally beautiful. You can also splashing in the ocean at low tide. The water was cooler than on the east coast, "only" 29 degrees, while in Jambiani it was 33-34 degrees, but still quite warm. The ocean bed deepened earlier than in the east, but the water was cleaner, there were fewer aquatic plants and less trash on the beach than on the east coast. We were in one of the upstairs rooms overlooking the ocean, it was absolutely fine, like new, not worn, everything was correct and clean, and the cleaning was perfect. We absolutely loved the restaurant on the beach with an ocean view, with sand on the floor, which we haven't experienced before, but we loved it, we were amazed to be able to eat barefoot in the sand. I liked that almost every night there was a show after dinner. We were very satisfied with the behavior of the waiters and other staff, they were all very nice and smiling. I liked that the manager man of the hotel himself paid attention to everything, interestingly, if we had a problem, he was there immediately and helped to solve it (I have no idea how he knew it immediately and showed up immediately :) ). The food wasn't very varied, but we always found something we liked, and anyway we didn't go there to spoil our beach body. :) The hotel is nicely designed, cozy, the night lighting on the trunks of the palm trees... I liked that you could park with the car, and I liked that we got everywhere quickly, and our favorite restaurant, the Italian Mamma Mia, was also accessible by walking along the beach. :) The Maasai were not as intrusive as many wrote here, we told them "no thank you" and then they moved on. I liked that there is a small bazaar street on both sides of the hotel, where you can easily buy all souvenirs.

United KingdomIt is on the beach, run by Italians. We arrived late, New Years Eve and two young men were on reception. One quickly disappeared, leaving Abubakar to do the check-in. He quickly told us to select pay now in the App because it was an extortionate $500+ for one night. Although we paid and showed him the authorization, he kept us waiting about 30 minutes so that we missed the New Year celebrations on the beach. He kept trying to confirm the reservation by trying to reach someone on the phone. Then he told us the reservation manager wasn't there. So why accept our payment? It's as if he wanted to make excuses due to the lengthy delay. My friend told him in swahilli that no one is sitting around somewhere waiting to confirm a reservation when it's close to midnight. You can see the proof of payment from my bank statement and just take us to our room. He wasn't interested. It was as if we turned up to beg him if we could stay. No welcome drink, no indication of how long he'd be flaffing about. Eventually we were taken to our room - it's called a loft room, but it is misleading because it's just a studio in a bungalow with peeling paint and the water floods the entire bathroom floor, due to the poor design of fitting half a screen. Overall, it's not a bad hotel to stay, but it is ridiculously overpriced, and staff need training desperately. I have noticed this lack of basic customer training in certain run hotels in East Africa, especially. The Chinese ones, at least, try a little harder. Apart from the tall black guy in the bar, most staff were just poor or, at best, average. They also close the bar early; even New Year's Eve, it closed at midnight. When considering it's not close to other amenities and the prices are so hefty, it's the last thing you expect. I woke late, so I can't comment on breakfast.
It has nice landscaped grounds.

GermanyThe horrible thing I witnessed - old man drowned. Tourists took him out of the water and start to reanimate on the beach of My blue hotel. Nobody from the staff came. Only after approx 20-25 min doctor came. He did not have defibrillator (looks like they don't have it at all). All the help was only from the tourists (not from doctor). Next day when I asked the staff did the man survived and why doctor did not come immediately they simply said that he was not from our hotel (so did not deserve to be helped???). That's terrifying. Another thing what I didn't not like it's about the food: Even that majority of the population is Muslim on the island, it is not respected in the hotel: On the Christmas Eve dinner was served at 21:00, before that there was a snack bar - all the snacks when I arrived was with pork. In the morning they don't have separate pans to fry the eggs, so they fry eggs after pork without washing it. I would suggest to keep one (from four) pans for non-pork usage. It is open buffet, on the places where chief is distributing the food (shrimps, in my case) he will put one or two shrimp and than say "thank you" and from that moment will ignore you, even if ask to have additional. Room: water from the shower was leaking, so I had a swimming pool there after taking a shower
Location, room had AC, mosquito net, housekeeping in the evening sprayed antimosquito in the room. Quality of Food was ok, staff very friendly

SwedenNo bottles of water was given in the room unless you’re an all inclusive customer, so you have to go to the bar and buy them everyday. Not much options to activate.
Clean and nice hotel, helpful staff. There was a doctor there that could help us when I got sick. If you like all inclusives with buffets I guess it’s good, but there is not much else to do than hang out by the pool unless you pay for excursions.
