"Crazy Man" - is the most positive and helpful crazy man I ever met in my life (in a very good meaning of those words). We could choose the room, we didn't like the one we were offered first, so he let us take other. We arrived before checkin time, and without any problems they stored our laggage. We could use for free of charge the wasching machine, the owner even helped me to hang my laundry :) The breakfasts are are delicious and portions are big. You can help yourself with tea, coffee and drinking water at any time for free. You can use the shared kitchen in case you would like to cook for yourself or ask staff for food delivery from Jambo for example :) The area itself and the way it is arranged has good, relaxing vibes. It is not far from the main road, but it is quiet, no noise from the road.

the AC didn't work in the private rooms due to electricity issues (which are happening all over the island) but with the fans it was still good to sleep

Nice vibes, nice people, and awesome host, also the rooftop was the one of the highlights of this hostel. Definitely do the snorkling tour, its so cheap and amazing

Where to begin. The crazy man is the best host on the island. He made us feel welcome immediately, taking us to the beach and connecting us with locals to contact if we were ever in trouble. The breakfast was absolutely phenomenal. Toast with the choice of Nutella, jam, peanut butter etc. Eggs and followed by a fruit platter and smoothie. There was also a washing machine that was free of charge to use. The hostel had a cool vibe and crazy man was always around to help if needed, he even took us to the dala dala station. Overall a awesome place to stay

Sometimes the internet wouldn't work and the electricity would go out (but he had a generator available and it is Africa- so not really unexpected)

The host was fantastic! Although very busy he did everything he could to ensure a comfortable stay. He has great knowledge of the area and provides great recommendations.

I liked everything about Homeland Lodge. We felt like home. The crazy guy treated us very well. He is awesome. We enjoyed it, he took us many places actually it was easy for our plans and all trips. Power cut outs ( not host's fault).

The host lives up to his name - Crazy Man.Quite a character but gives his best to keep guests happy.Facilities were brilliant ,breakfast was just amazing,room was clean .He took us the beach,dropped us off to the bus station - all free of charge.The evening before departure we had the best dinner ( prawns,crabs,calamari) for very affordable price ( of course we asked for this in advance).All in all very good place to stay - not a 5 star hotel ,but for the money paid you can't beat that.Thank you Crazy Man

Amazing place to stay in the north of Zanzibar from where you can explore the island easy with the dalla dallas. The owner is very helpful. He drove us to a secret beach, helped us organise stand up paddling and many more. The breakfast is very good. Many toast, 2 eggs and a lot of fruits. Crazy man is really crazy in a very nice way. He helps you out all the time, gets you the best deals on tours and restaurants and he is just a really cool and nice guy. From the roof terrace you can see sunrise and sunset (not at the sime time ;-) ) and you have a 270° view on the ocean.

This hostel is amazing, the crazy man (the owner) couldn’t have been more helpful. As a young 18 girl travelling he managed to make mine and my friends stay as welcoming as possible. This included great breakfasts/ free transport/ advice and help on all our days there/ and showed us the local culture. Room was excellent with working hot water and AC!

Crazy Man needs either to hire more help or work less hard. Twice he got up in the middle of the night to make breakfasts for guests who were leaving at 5am. One night he cooked dinner for 10 guests and 10 of their friends who were staying elsewhere. If he were a little less crazy he could be better organised and get better cover when he has to go out. He needs to change the understated 'continental breakfast' to a more accurate term in the description on Booking.com, and provide the bar (with beer and soft drinks at least) that is also listed there.

The location gives guests walking access to the amazing beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa, while paying cheap inland rates. The hardworking owner-manager, Crazy Man, goes to extreme lengths to keep his guests happy. He freshly prepares breakfast for each guest: a heaped plate of fruit plus another with fried eggs and toast, and homemade juice plus bottomless tea and coffee. One night he invited me to dinner at a friend's house. I also like the fact that the property is located in a village mainly serving local people. So good, basic meals are available in the cafes along Nungwi Road, where there are also shops selling at local - rather than tourist - prices.
