Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaOur recent stay at Safaya Luxury Villas in Nungwi, Tanzania was amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of relaxation, luxury, and unmatched hospitality. The villa itself was a sanctuary of elegance and comfort, boasting breathtaking views of the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Our accommodation was immaculately appointed, offering spacious living areas, plush furnishings, and every modern amenity imaginable. The private pool was a highlight, providing a serene oasis for us to unwind and soak up the tropical sun. The management went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and preferences, arranging personalized experiences such as a private tour of the city that allowed us to immerse ourselves in the rich culture and history of Nungwi. Their dedication to excellence was evident in every interaction, and we felt truly pampered from beginning to end. Each day, dedicated staff members would visit our villa to conduct thorough mosquito control procedures. Armed with eco-friendly insect repellents, they meticulously sprayed the premises, paying close attention to areas where mosquitoes might be prevalent. Their proactive approach not only helped to keep the pesky insects at bay but also demonstrated a genuine commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for guests. Overall, our stay at Safaya Luxury Villas exceeded all expectations and left us with cherished memories that will last a lifetime. We cannot recommend this exquisite property highly enough to anyone seeking a luxurious escape in paradise. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience – we look forward to returning soon.

United StatesIf you type this location in on Apple or Google Maps, the GPS will lead you in circles. It was hard to find. Make sure you contact the property to set up transportation to/from the airport because their recommendations will know how to get you here. Be aware, you’re very close to the fish markets. So if the wind is blowing in the right direction, it can be pretty smelly. (Not the fault of property) The food options stayed typically the same throughout the stay. I can’t imagine staying a week here and eating the same food every day BUT everyone is different when it comes to food so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
First off, I want to thank Jessica for her communication and kindness during our stay. She was very helpful! Secondly, I appreciate the property manager for answering the phone for us when we were trying to find the location when we first got here. I was frustrated and he assured that he would come get us from wherever we were to make sure we made it to the property ok. The room was very clean and lovely. We stayed in the beach front villa. It was beautiful night and day. As an American (because you know we love our A/C), I was very happy about the cold A/C they had in the room. It was never hot and this was appreciated as Zanzibar is hot and humid. We had a hiccup in regards to the breakfast in the room/at the pool. I originally planned to have it on a specific day but it did not show up on that day. I spoke with the staff and they served it to us the next morning. We also had a late check out and i was very thankful they let us stay in the room past check out time. We were able to enjoy our in-room breakfast because of this and did not feel rushed at all. Shower great. Bed great. Very spacious room. The amenities in the room were also nice. I read online somewhere that the hotels typically try to keep the beach locals away from the property to the best of their ability. I will say, be prepared to constantly be sold to when trying to relax on the property. All day long , there was constantly “beach boys” trying to sell you stuff. I appreciate the security guard on the beach keeping the other tourist away from our beach swings. So many of them walked up and he kindly asked them to leave. This was nice because I feel like there would have been a line had he not been there to do this. It made us feel special. They arranged an airport drop off for us and got us on our way in time.

BelgiumThe water was gone one time but didn't take long to come back. The electricity goes offline alot during daytime and morning but not in the evening. The fences also could have a bit more privacy for couples that want it.
The food was perfect, location is also beautiful, calm and no many tourists, hotel reception has their own list of activities and tours they propose which is very practical and easy, management and personel is very friendly, especially the head chef is a very friendly guy.

United KingdomThe breakfast wasn't too great. The WiFi service wasn't great in our rooms. The water kept going off mid shower due to the daily changing of the generator which we were informed of (so we did expect it but was still annoying especially when we had to wait a few minutes for the water to come back on). AC system difficult to use as remote often would not connect.
I liked the cleanliness, the spacious rooms and all the little extras provided. I enjoyed dinner more than breakfast. We really enjoyed the surprise evening dinner on the beach. I also liked the laundry service. The beachfront view was amazing and has a security officer making sure all guests are kept safe.

And thank you so much for the farewell gift of the garden dinner. It was really amazing. I will definitely visit this place again.

Germany-Electricity is a general issue all over the island. Some hotels figured out a way to minimize the outages and Safaya can definitely work on improving that -SPA should be offered at the hotel
-First and foremost the location was amazing. The beach bungalow is directly located at the beach which is just stunning. -Location wise it is also great that you can walk by the beach in order to access nearby restaurants or bars. It is also close to Kendwa beach, which is definitely worth a visit. -We loved the staff, everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful for any inquiry. It is a small hotel with a total of 11 bungalows which gives you a cozy family vibe. -We booked halfboard and were very satisfied with the food. Kiss, the chef, put a lot of effort in selecting the dishes - great job! I even asked him for some of the recipes. -The rooms were always clean and the interior is a beautiful bohemian vibe. We loved the small details in the room such as card game, umbrella, beach tennis etc. Also, they offer a free laundry service which is very unique. -You feel very safe since there is always a security guard outside.

South AfricaWe would firstly like to forward our sincere appreciation to all the staff members making sure we enjoyed our holiday. A special mention to Patrick, Mercy, Mohammed & Kiss (Chefs), Kani, Diana, Miriam and the pool guy. The professional, friendly and attentive service are what make this Hotel so special. Location: Walking distance to several restaurants and shops. You literally take 20 steps from your room stepping onto the clean beach. We just wish that the neighboring properties follow your example keeping the beach in pristine condition. Cleanliness: From our pool and room that were cleaned on a daily basis to even the restaurant, gardens and paths. Thank you The well prepared and variety of food! Zanzibar seem to have a problem providing supplying constant electricity to the properties resulting in “dips” in the electrical supply BUT Safaya went the extra mile, renting a massive generator running almost constantly to ensure that their guests could still enjoy all that the hotel stands for. This commitment and professional service clearly proof what you guys stand for. We left Safaya with a smile, well rested and beautiful memories. May you guys have a blessed 2024. Please take special care of Villa 1, which will hopefully be occupied by ourselves in December 2024.

QatarThe villas were lovely and comfortable and clean, the garden and private pool was well maintained. The breakfast and evening meals were delicious. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The romantic dinner on the beach is a must, lovely setting with amazing food and the floating breakfast was a wonderful experience with so many options of food. There was a lovely surprise in the room to celebrate my birthday. The private beach was relaxing with security making sure the beach boys did not become a problem. We stayed within the resort throughout our stay. The beach is lovely to walk along and to watch the daily fishing catches arriving. It was a lovely environment and perfect for a peaceful holiday.
