Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KenyaIt is located a little further out from the city centre which can be a good or bad thing depending on the purpose of your stay. If your stay is focused on exploring Dar Es Saalam, by day or night, the distance and navigating the city's traffic may be a turn off. The last stretch to the hotel after turning off the road can be a challenge if you are in a car that struggles for clearance. And if you are following Google maps, it will take you to the wrong entrance to the property. While fronting the beach and ocean views are their biggest selling points, the rooms themselves are located a tad away from that excellent beach thus cannot be truly ocean view rooms. The facilities are decent but there is a feeling of needing a little more love to make it a hidden gem and an excellent place to stay. The paint scheme around the various facilities is not for everyone. It is a mix of as many colours as they could gather, often in a way that dulls the shine of what a nice place it is.
The staff were very welcoming, hospitable, and helpful. The check in process was very pleasant. The WiFi facilities are next level with one-time use login credentials. The food at the restaurant was amazing but definitely overpriced. The hotel fronts a nice sandy beach and is located in the Kigamboni area of Dar Es Saalam. They have a large swimming pool surrounded by palm trees which makes for a relaxing stay.

AustriaEvery day we ask for chapati. Every day a new staff told us there is none until they finally brought us. Every day asking for 5 minutes the same thing. There are no beds on the beach which almost every hotel has and should be really no problem, but also on the pool only about 6 beds out of wood with no pads, so very hard and uncomfortable. Every day there are school classes for swim lessons. So every day it's really loud.
Big room, for the money it's okay but nothing more. Cleaning staff is very friendly and clean. Breakfast is good.

CanadaOur room had some issues. No mosquito net and the walls were a bit shabby. The patio door also didn't lock. Unsure if this was just our room, as it was on the end of the floor, as the other rooms looked a bit better kept as we walked past.
The pool, facilities, music, staff, beach were all spectacular. Very local, few foreigners.

TanzaniaIf you are coming here to relax, forget it. It is opened to externals during the day, having even schools coming with more than 50 students, large groups swimming.Letting people swim in their clothes made the pool even dirtier. Very noisy with loud music from 11am all day long, we requested if they could put it a bit down but they wouldn't. We had to shout at each other if we wanted to talk. Restaurant : mind that some dishes will be spicy even if you ask for non spicy food and that they will charge you for it even if you couldn't eat it and got it returned to the kitchen. Issues were the same on our first stay but we were hoping they would have improved. Breakfast : very limited choice and all dishes empty when you arrive at 9am. At the end, check the bill as they charged us more than what was agreed on booking.com We then had to justify ourselves with emails until the manager came to clear it out with us, proving to the reception staff that they had overcharged us.
It's the second time we came here, last time in December 2022. Great beautiful beach with clean water. The hotel has a big potential thanks to it's location. The pool is big / however would need some maintenance. Some good food when the order is respected. Very comfortable beds and large bedrooms.

United StatesThe beds were very hard. Not firm, HARD!! The water was lukewarm at best. We were given one towel for two people. Staff came around at night, asking us if they could come in to spray our room for mosquitoes. Seriously!? The best part of staying here was the one employee Tyreek! He went above and beyond!
Breakfast was OK at best. Really need to do something about all the flies while eating.

United StatesThe toilet leaked, we told staff the next morning, no one ever came to fix it. The shower door didn't close properly. There was no hot water the first 2 days we were there. All the staff looked miserable, every day. The whole building and the property was very outdated, by 30+ years. Food was mediocre, at best. The place was 2 to 3 miles off the main road, where all the shops were and transportation was not readily available.
Nothing at all.
