Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFans and air con was hit miss at times but there is a backup generator. The fan wasn’t as strong and air on would switch on off at night when power cuts across the island but most of the time no issues
Very nice boutique style property with amazing staff and good access to the beach. Helpful manager and good menu for kids and generally to choose from.

Czech RepublicOnly small downside for somebody might be a lack of resort sunbeds on the beach but it is understandable as the resort is not on the beach directly but like 50 meters from it.
One of the best accommodation we have ever had, and we have been to a lot of them. Area is very quiet, without a lot of tourists. Overall it is quite nice part of zanzibar, Pwani Mchangani is small village within 5 mins of walking from Tamu Tamu, with couple of shops and small restaurants. Beach is also nice, not crowded, without many local sellers ("hello my friend"). What is a plus of Tamu Tamu is it's beautiful settings with a lot of greenery, nice pools etc. Everything is neat, well cared of, very secluded and private. The main reason we LOVED our stay were the people working in Tamu Tamu - such a friendly guys still smiling, funny and kind to everyone... we felt like visiting a friends. We loved everything about our stay and cannot recommend this resort enough!

We had an unforgettable stay at Tamu Tamu Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar. The hotel is nestled in a beautiful location, just a minute away from the beach. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience truly special - they were not only fantastic but also incredibly attentive. One of the highlights was the delicious breakfast served daily, adding a delightful start to each morning. Our room was not only beautiful and spacious but also equipped with all the comforts we could wish for. The hotel manager, who was very nice, ensured that every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. What made Tamu Tamu truly exceptional was the sense of warmth and camaraderie – it felt like being part of a family. Without a doubt, this was one of the most beautiful stays of our lives, and we highly recommend Tamu Tamu Boutique Hotel for an incredible Zanzibar experience.

United StatesLOVED my time at Tamu Tamu hotel in Zanzibar. The location right next to Pwani Mchangani on the eastern coast was perfect - super quiet with not too many tourists and a nice village with a few restaurants nearby. We really preferred it to hectic Stone Town and touristy Nungwi Beach for example. The rooms were beautiful and clean, we really appreciated the attention room service put into making sure everything was neat when we got back from a daytrip. The pool area was beautiful too, we could have easily spent a whole week just lounging there. The food at the restaurant was great too, the breakfasts were copious with many options to choose from and the urojo (a local soup they made for us upon demand) was the most delicious thing I tasted on my trip to Tanzania. They also have a nice menu of snacks to enjoy poolside and a fantastic happy hour deal with very good cocktails. Finally, the staff, absolutely lovely, super helpful and always around in case we needed anything. I appreciated their help with transportation around the island and booking activities, like a spice tour and visit to Stone Town. Honestly for the price, this place is unbeatable. It's a boutique hotel where you're afforded more attention than in the 3 times more expensive large resorts more north. Thank you Tamu Tamu for a fantastic stay!

South AfricaThis is most probably our fault, but the photos do look like hotel is on beach. We also paid similary for hotel on beach. We had to get ourselves sorted for loungers and umbrella. Manager did suggest us asking hotel a few doors up, which were very kind as they were refurbing, and not full. If they were full they would not allow it understandbly. I would like to suggest if owner/manager could make deal with this hotel. Put some beach loungers/umbrella of there own at this hotel for there guests. It will make a persons stay much better. The other hotel then get the revenue from food and drink orders as an extra. This was truelly our only problem, and would have spoilt our stay if we couldn't sort it our on our second day.
We loved the personal touch by Manager and Owner. Nothing was too much for them to do for there guests. Staff also very helpfull and very friendly. Our suite was so comfortable and housekeeping kept it clean. Never desturbing us. Loved the 3 cats and dog. Felt home away from home for us.
