Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomInsects management can be improved. Bees won’t allow you a peaceful breakfast. Missing mosquito net around the bed: got bitten during the night.
Stunning location on a white sand beach, surrounded by authentic nature, you can access the beach directly from your room and swim in the warm water. I also recommend to take a massage on the Spa located on the rock. I loved the sweet and smily personnel, always very calm and polite. The resort and room design is remarkable.

ItalyFew suggestions: I would rather opt for a more local breakfast selection rather than some international proposals which cannot be provided at the state of art. Insects are everywhere in tropical areas, this is not an issue per se, but fumigation should be performed more frequently
A Paradise for experienced travellers. If you love big international luxury hotel networks, pls forget this place. You will not like it. Everything connects you to Mother nature here. You can leave your expensive but, very cheap dresses home. Food is amazing and fresh but the local staff open your heart with a smiles. A special txs to Bella and Epifany.

PortugalBear in mind this hotel is placed in a quiet and remote place of the island, so it´s a long trip from airport to hotel (aprox. 2h). But absolutly worth the jorney!
What can I say about this hotel? PERFECT! Villa was amazing! With direct acess to the beach. With big entrance, a big living room (with fruits and snacks to welcome us), a big and perfect bed, and the most perfect bathroom! Every staff was always so helpfull and nice! Restaurant's food was delicious. This is the type of exquisite place you want to be. Not only they treat you like the most important person of the hotel, but they help a lot the comunity of the village around. I absolutly recomend this hotel!

Aiyana is a must-go if you travel to Tanzania and especially to Zanzibar. The hotel is just amazing and the staff members are the most welcoming and caring people you can wish for. We spent 6 days there and had the best experience as a couple. We really hope we can come back very soon. We highly recommend their rock spa massage, during sunset, that is situated on a rock and that you can reach by a 3 min kayak drive, as well as their private dinner on the beach. Service and food are amazing.

GermanyService was good, but forgetful. I asked for a beer opener 4 times and never received one.
The location was excellent - remote, like going back 1,000 years in time. Best beach on earth.

GermanyOur trip was wonderful, however there should be some points mentioned for an objective review. 1. The excursions are quite expensive and there are very limited options to explore the island without them since the hotel is pretty isolated. 2. Again, the spa price list is higher than European standards and could be justified if the treatments would have been excellent. They were average at best, however the rock spa is a unique and nice experience (still quite pricey). 3. There are plenty of vegetarian options, but as a vegan it was a little bit difficult to communicate some dietary adaptions. The staff tried very hard, so after a couple of days it wasn’t an issue anymore. Also, the traditional Swahili food (and breakfast!) is very vegetarian/ vegan friendly :) 4. One last little thing - there is free wifi for guests at the bar and at the restaurant. It’s okay but doesn‘t work too well from time to time. You could buy wifi for your private villa at an additional cost of 20 USD. I think this concept is quite outdated for a five-star hotel but on the other hand, it could be a great opportunity to stay offline for a while and just enjoy your surroundings ;)
It‘s a wonderful location with the most beautiful beach I‘ve ever seen. I was literally speechless the day we arrived. Great for a relaxing holiday, if you just want to take a break from everything. Sailing lessons and trips on the traditional N‘Galawa were definitely highlights of our stay. Great variation of themed dinners/ evenings, we especially enjoyed the barefoot BBQ at the beach. I‘d recommend the spa rock experience, since it’s quite unique and close to the beautiful nature. The staff is very friendly and tries to make everything possible. Also, housekeeping came two times a day and everything is very clean. The architecture of the hotel is really well integrated into the beautiful nature and every villa is spacious and well decorated with a nice view of the ocean.

United StatesStunning resort with breathtaking beach and ocean view. Stuff was friendly and responsive. For the first few days we had a feeling that they are a bit slow, but when you got used to the pace of this wonderful resort, everything starts to be nice and smooth.
