Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomTher wasn't much I didn't like. It a 20-minute taxi to town, so that may be an issue for some. But I loved the place.
What a wonderful, friendly place! I was in Arusha for business and it made by business trip feel like a holiday. Beautiful, clean rooms, lovely breakfast, impeccably clean and above all the staff were all hugely friendly and welcoming. I would certainly go back!

KenyaThis villa was everything and more. The staff went out of their way and made my husband's birthday memorable. The decorations for his surprise birthday celebration were on point, the cake, dinner, champagne, everything was perfect. The rooms are spacious. The bed was very comfortable. We had a beautiful balcony with views of Mt Meru. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. I'd recommend their natural juice which was very good. They also have a massage and salon on site. And they had a taxi guy with reasonable rates who drove us whenever we needed transport. Overall I'd 10/10 recommend Villa Arumeru. The hospitality of the staff is unmatched.

United StatesAircon was noisy and didn't work very well (finally cooled down in my room middway through the night). Not a complaint, but something to be aware of: the trip in a taxi to get to the hotel is quite an adventure - the hotel is quite far (~10 minutes) off the main paved road, and the roads leading there are dirt and very pitted, so just be prepared! But it is worth the trip (in my opinion!).
Lovely, welcoming staff that went above and beyond for me and were really communicative. Room / closet / bathroom were huge. Property was really beautiful - stunning outside area.

United KingdomThe location is fantastic, but the road leading up to it is really really rough. If you wish to stay here, I’d recommend you use a 4x4 to get there as one night we got stuck on the road in a taxi.
We loved the secluded location of the hotel, tucked away from the hustle and bustle. It was quiet and the staff were warm and welcoming. They couldn’t do enough to help us, even going to extra measures after a night of being ill. The room was super comfy and clean, with a big balcony, air con and Netflix on the TV. The food was good, the breakfast was lovely and all in all we loved our stay. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Arusha.

United KingdomNot much to dislike here as great attention is paid to guest wellbeing
The approach by road is interesting and will test your drivers dexterity, sense of direction and the vehicle's suspenbsion as you make your way through some very rough backroads. Staying out of season (late Nov) I was the only guest but the staff were very accomodating and pleasant. As a blind guest travelling solo they were increasibly helpful and attentive.

The property is a real gem hidden in Arusha city, 20 mnts from the airport. We spent one night there after a safari and the service was impeccable ( they even cleaned our dusty shoes!), the room was spotless and really nicely decorated. They also have a really nice cute garden with a small outdoor bar and pool where we sat down after dinner. It deserves a 10!

United StatesReviews capture this but it’s worth repeating: the facility and staff are exceptional; the rooms are very comfortable; they had a driver waiting for us at the airport after our long flight; although in a tight non-western warren of streets and homes, we felt safe; we were amazed at the bird life in the gardens on the grounds; staff arranged for a driver to take us into town and meet us after, and later deliver us to our tour location. We would highly recommend.

United StatesNo complaints, other than a warning that the hotel can be a little hard to find as its tucked away in narrow streets from the main road.
We stayed at Villa Arumeru for one night after completing a 3 day safari. The grounds and the hotel itself were beautiful, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We had a sometimes cranky toddler with us and throughout the stay they did all they could to cheer him up. Prior to our stay, they reached out to change our rooms to better accommodate our group, and the change was perfect, complete with a shared balcony with a view of Mt Meru. The food at the restaurant was great, and it was the perfect respite spot after three days driving all over the parks. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Arusha!

NetherlandsMatras a bit hard for my taste, but my partner didn’t mind at all, so maybe it’s me. Thanks for everything!
The staff was amazing. Incredibly polite and going out of their way to help us getting around. We loved how they had extra toothbrushes, razors, bathing supplies and travel sized toothpastes ready for us, in case you’d forgotten anything. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious, we had a view of mount Arumeru and a nice balcony. We Enjoyed some drinks at the nice bar / pool area and had a tasty complete breakfast at our desired time in the morning. Lovely stay, thanks again for the perfect service!

United KingdomCouldn’t fault this place, we had a great stay.
We loved staying here - the rooms were spacious and clean, the pool & bar area was a great place to relax, the food was some of the best we ate during our 2 weeks in Tanzania and most of all the staff were amazing, friendly & courteous. We did a 2 week self drive Safari and we stayed here for a bit of comfort on our last night to relax before flying home and it definitely lived up to our expectations - as well as being a comfortable place to stay, the staff really went the extra mile to look after us, arranging for our postcards to be posted, booking a taxi for us to the airport and they even kindly cleaned our very dusty hiking shoes for us without us even asking, just as part of the room service. Would definitely recommend.
