Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Ukraineall was good!
Villa Kirumi is great place to stay in Nungwi area! Location is not far from beach and restaurants. We stayed in Villa for a month and felt really like at home. Owner and all staff are super-friendly and very helpful! Food is good, it also possible to order meals by request, it was very tasty. We are very thankful for generator provision when there were electricity shortages sometimes. It was important for us as we needed to work remotely. We really liked this place and definetely will come back next time. Missing our friend - the dog Piero, he is very kind and nice. Thank everyone in Villa Kirumi for our comfortable staying, we are looking forward to get back!

We stayed 2 weeks in Hotel Kirumi as a family. Choosing Nungwi ( famous for its parties and night life) we were very careful where and which hotel to book. Having 2 young girls we were looking for tranquil and peace. Beforehand read all the reviews and was amazed how many positive reviews Kirumi has….and what can I say . There are all true. We were staying in the family room, it was clean, tidy and had a wonderful homely ambience. The cordial nature of Stefano ( the owner ) and Khadija ( the manager) are commendable indeed and they were the icing on the cake. The breakfast was always brilliant every day. Never did we feel alienated as we were treated like a family members rather than guests. The pool was always pristine clean. The Wi-Fi in the hotel was the best we found in the whole Nungwi. The air conditioner was flawless . We also found the location very convenient, turn left a couple of minutes’ walk to the beach, turn right a couple of minutes’ walk to the community road, where the locals sell and trade everything we needed. The restaurants we ate mostly Mama Mia, Terrace, Istanbul, The Corner are all about 15min walk. The beautiful beach of Kendwa is also about 15min walk, there was a small shop literally 50metres from the hotel selling sodas and snacks if our girls needed. We arrived as tourists and left as friends, thank you the Kirumi family for making our holiday so memorable.

United KingdomThe location was not ideal. Although only a 10 minute walk to the beach taking into account the searing heat it was extremely bad under foot due to rocks and rubble. Very difficult to negotiate at night in the dark as there is no lighting. A torch is essential to get back at night. Breakfast started off ok at the start of the week but got less and less as the days progressed, the housekeeper saying things had gone off.... bearing in mind we were the only occupants. Would not accept MasterCard on arrival only cash in dollars.
Large comfortable room, plenty of hot water. Super air con.

United KingdomThe location is just a few minutes from the beach, but I didn't feel safe walking back alone at night, if you travel alone like me, ask Stefano about reliable taxis you can use to return at late night.
The owner is very helpful, breakfast is well served and if you have an early tour they can make it for you early too. Very flexible with check-out bags too. I felt welcomed in this place, as I didn't like the Nungwi area, as it had many natives who were chasing me all the time. Being in this hotel made me feel safe. I was also happy to know that they treat the dog very well.

United KingdomPrices of soft drinks and water could be displayed near the fridge, as we had to pay in the evening for them after we checked out we got a bit confused and after paying we had no cash to continue our journey to airport. But this is a very little thing, we are really happy about our stay!
Very happy about our 7 nights stay in Villa Kirumi. Small guesthouse located 7/8 minutes walk from the beach, brand new building with lovely patio and plants around. The area around is quiet rural, however there are more hotels/resorts around and we walked at night to restaurants without being scared. The room was big, quiet and with all amenities. Stefano, the owner is very friendly and provides a lot of useful suggestions on where to eat and what to do. He also offers trips around the island through a local agency. Adija and the other girl prepare delicious breakfast every morning, always smiling. Piero the doggo and the masai guard also very friendly :) We definitely recommend this to everybody!

United KingdomLocation was great, just 5 minute walk to the beach - this is as close as you can get without staying at a beachfront hotel. Staff were great - I was travelling solo and Stefano, the owner, made an effort to make me feel secure, welcome and comfortable. Great room and bathroom; hot shower. Nice main area beside the pool. Breakfast was great. Relaxing villa.

Nice place to stay in Nungwi, just a few minutes away from the crowded and noisy parties. They have really nice staff. Stefano, Hadiya, Eliza and Masaine, and of course lovely Piero, will take care of you during your holiday. You can have a delicious breakfast by the pool. The housekeeping is great and they keep your room nice and clean. The majority of streets in Nungwi are soil but the one to get to the Villa is fine and safe, just be nice with a “Jambo” and you’ll get a big smile from the locals. Asante sana!! Many thanks!

South AfricaOnce we became comfortable with our surroundings, there was nothing. Felt like home.
We had to travel along a bumpy dirt road before we arrived at our Villa, But once we were inside the gates to the villa, it was wonderful. The staff were friendly, the breakfast good, the room large, clean and generally quiet (Except for the odd dog barking or cow mooing). We quickly learnt as two women that it was perfectly safe to walk around, day and night, with every person we met greeting us with “Jambo”. Ngunwi beach is beautiful with white sand and turquoise water. There are many restaurants to be found along the beach and we ate at a different one every night.
