Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWar... But it isn't up for fantastic people to stop it, sadly.
I did like everything! The girl who checked me in was accommodating! I came to Kyiv a little earlier than expected, but she was highly professional and allowed me to check in earlier. Top-class service from an extremely beautiful woman! Rooms are very clean and big. First visit to Kyiv, definitely not last, enjoyed every single minute and hotel Natsionalny was a big part of it!

United StatesWell..seeing that it is operating in a war environment I have no criticism of it. Loved the place. I love Kiev. It will be one of the world's great tourist places once the war ends..Kiev is amazing.
Breakfast was exquisite. A luxury hotel by all measures.

United StatesTheir gym is great plenary of treadmills and machines just wish they had a squat rack haha 😂
This property was the best they speak English which I needed since I’m still learning Ukrainian, the inn, hotel, Bartenders and Bar are always there to talk to you pointed in the right direction or let you know exactly where you need to go especially if you’re looking for something to do either in the nightlife or during the day. The housing staff and kitchen staff do an outstanding job (definitely try the steak, Borscht or chicken of Kyiv so good) I never had to ask ones for anything to get fixed in my room or being satisfied with the condition it wasn’t. The front desk and security are some of the most friendly people that you’ll find. Plus they’re always on top of anything that you need and what’s going on outside so you can sleep safely the area is very welcoming and walking distances to cafes, market, banking and a park! It won’t take you long to get to the center either, but you’re far enough away so you won’t have to deal with traffic or noise.

United StatesI could tell that people were smoking in the emergency stair wells because I was right near one. The bed was a king size, but was actually two smaller beds together with a small gap in between them (common across all of Europe, but still worth noting as my other 2 accommodations in Kyiv were not this way).
The location was right up the road from the theater, the War Museum, and the National Art Museum. the road behind the hotel had destroyed Russian (Orc) tanks and vehicles on display. Also very close to the parks along the Dnipro River. The bed was large, the room was clean, the view was okay, and the room service for dinner was excellent!

ItalyCompared to the size of the room, the bathroom was undersized and showed some signs of wear and tear. Water pressure in the shower was good but not very strong and could have been warmer (although more than sufficient for a pleasant shower).
Despite being a standard room, it was spacious and comfortable, with much space for storage. Very clean, including the carpet. Excellent sound and weather insulation, great windows. Bathroom was also clean and well appointed. Breakfast buffet catered to many individual preferences and espresso was more than acceptable.

United StatesThis list will be significantly shorter. I was surprised that the main doors to the building are locked at night. If like me you plan to come back after 3 am, look for the doorbell to the left of the door. Someone will unlock the door and let you in. I did not love the pillows in the room. I believe they were stuffed with down. They collapse and become unsupportive after a few minutes of use. Neither of these 2 minor inconveniences would prevent me from staying here again.
So many things! The location was amazing. This hotel is between 2 major subway stops, each is about 1km away. Arsenalna station is famous for being the deepest in the world and is worth the 1km walk just for that reason alone. THe hotel is close to the city center without being in on a busy or noisy street. The breakfast!!! This breakfast was incredible! Each morning there was a broad spread of foods including hot and cold cereal, various meats, vegetables, a salad bar, eggs, toast, juices, coffee and tea, along with sweats such as pancakes, crepes, or similar Ukrainian dishes. The waitstaff was also incredible and helped me use the coffee machine to get exactly what I wanted. Thank you!! My room had an incredible view! I could see the Verkhovna Rada building - where parliament meets. What an incredible landmark to wake up to each morning! The room was great! It had unexpected amenities such as a terry cloth robe, slippers, towel warmer, refrigerator, electric teapot, and smart TV. There was also a supply of both sparkling and still water replenished each day. The air conditioning in the room worked fantastically and was adjustable to personal preference. The furniture looked classy and was very comfortable. The wifi was free and worked well. I was able to log into my classes remotely and my professors had no idea I was on vacation. There is a small lounge area and bar downstairs with comfortable seating and a small drink selection. All the staff I interacted with were incredibly helpful and understanding of my language barrier. I did my best to communicate in Ukrainian and they did an amazing job helping me. They got me an iron, extra towels, fresh drinking water, and called cabs when I needed them.
