Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UgandaFirst time I heard of Lemala was on NTV Travels and it’s been on my bucket list for 3 years. I’d say I had tears of joy seeing the waters by the restaurant and my room (Karega Room 2). Upon arrival, I was briefed about the safety on the island and was glad to hear it all as a solo travellers. Next I was given options for activities and there are plenty! My room was beyond my expectations! The view, the water, the ambiance, EVERYTHING. It was wonderful waking up to the beautiful waters every morning. The restaurant too didn’t fall short of options and taste. I’d definitely come back here!

United KingdomI think it’s best to stay for only a few nights as the noise from the water is constant. But it’s totally worth the stay! And I loved the noise from the waterfalls when sleeping!

Uganda8:30 is too early to close and 10am is too early to check out. The absence of any staff on the island after 8 except for the security guards doesn’t feel safe
I would like to think of myself as well travelled but, this is by far, a wonder.. The beautiful nature that’s Uganda coupled with intent to have something beautiful by the proprietors makes Lemala a sheer beauty. The staff are exceptional! Armstrong that welcomed me from the boat, Hannington at the reception that made my check in extra smooth, Justine that served me with utmost care and politeness, Moses for the evening shift that didn’t tire serving me and taking a million photos of me(solo traveller chronicles). Honestly, all of them were amazing but special shout out to the CHEF. Every meal was better than the last. I’m so glad u ushered the year in living in paradise. I will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Everything. It is the most unique, exotic place I have ever visited. There are only 10 individual rooms set on an island in the middle of the Nile. The food is 5 star. The service is excellent and the views are incredible. Words cannot describe this place. You have to see it to fully understand.

ColombiaI have nothing to complain about the property in terms of staff, accommodation and food. However, I think the place does not worth its price. More than USD 1000 per night was way too much.
I loved the Nile views, the design of the room, the food was great, the staff was very nice and polite.

SwitzerlandI didn‘t have the best pre-booking experience. I didn‘t like that my asking for a wildwater facing room (if possible) was met with a $30 charge for a „specific room request“. (The wildwater facing rooms are not per se better, as it‘s in turn quite noisy so it‘s really just personal preference). Maybe just me, but I never experienced that at any property before. I was also charged $200 PER WAY to and from Entebbe airport even though website and info at the hotel itself states $140. They said they had just changed the prices. I hope that‘s correct, but safe to say before arriving I felt less hospitality, more profit-seeking. Me now nevertheless loving the property and giving a good recommendation is really a testament to the incredibly nice staff and beautiful property!
Outstanding staff! Geofrey, Stella, Joseph and GM Dedan just to name a few. The property and rooms are beautiful, and the food, both more Western style and African, we’re outstanding!

FranceAt the beginning of June, it's already the start of the high-season and the prices are much higher than one month before (but its is still worth it). At night, you may have some insects getting inside the room, mainly on the ceiling.
This lodge is wonderful: you are constantly in front of the river (quite wildwaters indeed: the lodge is well-named, and it's out of question to go swim in that area). It's an idyllic place. The staff members are super nice and very well-trained. The place has an excellent restaurant and I would recommend to book with the three meals per day included. The chef and his team are excellent and provide high-quality food with a lot of different options (from the eggs Benedict to the beef filet to the gaspacho soup, exverything was great). In the room, the bed is good, there is WiFi and the bathroom is nice. It's perfect to relax and chill.
