Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI just wish there was an elevator for all of those stairs. People with mobility issues will have problems.
The location is perfect. You can walk everywhere and the view of the ocean is stunning.

UruguayI could hardly sit on the toilet or get up from it. The air in the room was unpleasant and there was no real way to get fresh air into it. The breakfast starts very late (8:00 a.m.) and they won't let you start even a minute early. When we arrived one person at the reception was not doing anything and the other was busy on the phone, so we waited for quite a while unnecessarily. Unlike the other staff these ladies did not come across as service oriented.
ambiente of building but not of the room, the breakfast, the locations and the relative quiet,

United KingdomNo egg station for breakfast.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely lounge to sit and watch the world go by. Nice outdoor terrace. Indoor pool for when it rains. Nice location for beach and restaurants, however if you cross the road, turn left and walk along promenade you will come to a fantastic restaurant Drakar (10 min walk).

CanadaThe rooms need to have outlets for phones and other equipment. We had to unplug the bedside lamps (crawl under the bed) to plug our cellphones.
The location is perfect, the hotel has class and style. The rooms were ok.

IrelandThe room we had was quite small, however there was a balcony which was nice. The check out time of 10am isn’t my favourite thing ever, so beware of this if you like a lie in.
The location is great for a night or two in Piriapolis. The hotel itself is an old building with lots of character and an underground pool. The breakfast is adequate but has a lovely view of the marina on a good day. The staff were very friendly when we stayed.

United KingdomThe internet dropped frequently and lacked consistency and strength, which affected phone calls using Whatsapp. The hotel shows signs of wear and tear but the quaintness and location compensate. Breakfast could use some variety.
Heated pool, although the temperature varied somewhat. The hotel's value lies in its age/history and charm. This has to be weighed against the better functionality of more modern hotels.

UruguayThe breakfast was generous and delicious. The pool was wonderful (water at around 30 degrees, just warm enough). The heating was on at the whole property (including a very nice lounge with a view to the beach and a working fireplace next to the lobby). The room was somewhat small, but acceptable for the rate and understandable since this is a historical building. Lots of art and original architecture/décor details around the building. Attentive staff.

FinlandOnly cold water in the downstairs swimming pool showers. Too small a reservoir or what, reason unknown.
Due to covid19 protocols the breakfast was served on a tray to table. Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful historical building right in the centre of Piriapolis. Old World charm throughout.

SloveniaWe paid more for Superior room with a view of the ocean. We were dissapointed because the room was very small, with tiny balcony. It was impossible that we would both seat on the balcony enjoying the view at the same time. When getting into the room, it was very strong smell of air freshener, hard to breath. We had a balcony door open the whole time to air out the room.
Beautifuly decorated and clean hotel, with excellent location. We had a choice of pillows for sleeping and bed was very comfortable. Good breakfast, a lot of choice. Hotel has a nice swimming pool, with warm water, just right temperature to be able to stay in the pool for long time.

BrazilThe room it was given to me was horrible and spoiled my experience. The "simple single room" was the 13th and ironically called "The Space Odyssey". A bad trip in the paradisiac south beach receding wellness. Very small, poor ventilation, bad smell, dark and far from clean. The bed was noisy with low quality mattress, pillows, sheets. The overall feeling was very depressing. The hotel offers very different quality of rooms and apparently only few are nice. It is a shame this hotel does not compromise to better levels of comfort neither higher quality in its service. They lay on an excellent location and breakfast to do all the work for them and seem irresponsible for the other dimensions of their business.
The breakfast is very good and is taken in a nice room with privileged view from the beach lead by the nicest staff. The lobby outside and inside are attracting and charming. The staff in the reception does the job properly and just that.

South AfricaThe economy room was disappointing. The toiletpaper is hard for example, and there's no instant coffee or tea in the room even though there are cups (without teaspoons) and a kettle. I had to put the kettle on the floor because the electric cord was too short and didn't reach the wall outlet. I requested a celiac breakfast which was also very disappointing - a plate of dry biscuits.
The pool temperature was nice. The communal areas are beautiful.

MexicoThe pool was dirty. The cleanliness of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Breakfast only lasts 30 minutes and the bakery is not as described. Inside the jug to heat water, we found a piece of meat that had been around for months because it was already in poor condition, which indicates that they do not clean it properly. In general, the payment does not correspond to the quality of the service.
