Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Near the sea and the only hotel with direct access to the beach. Very friendly staff.

UruguayUnfortunately the other side of the hotel faces a major thoroughfare, where the traffic noises continue throughout the night. Despite being severely sick, the noises kept me from proper rest. The price difference between the two sides is quite large. There were also issues that you wouldn't expect with a hotel of this caliber, like the broken room safes, the doors that don't lock properly and phones not working. Because I was bedridden, it was important for me to rest and be able to contact staff without having to go to Reception, so that was quite an inconvenience until it was finally fixed.
One side of the hotel faces the beach, can be quiet and offers spectacular views. The breakfast is sumptuous and the staff goes above and beyond. I was visiting a nearby hospital with a severe flu, missed the last bus and had to stay the night. I had the worst headache from being sick and the staff arranged for the pharmacy to deliver medicine and arranged a massage. I was so physically weak that I had to stay another night. The massage and the medicine really helped. The hotel staff also spoke with the staff at the hospital, to which I returned after the second night.

SwitzerlandFar from the city center, so a car is needed to circulate. Room with city view gave over the main road and the hotel trash bins, quite noisy (needed earplugs to sleep - and it was not a busy time of the year). It was not expensive, but the hotel should care for all views.
Beautifully located right on the beach, great terrasse with pool and also for the restaurant. Room was nice and spacious. Restaurant was very good, excellent food, one of the best I had in many countries (I'm a frequent business traveller). Friendly service at the restaurant.

United KingdomMany things, but this could be a really nice hotel 1. Having changed USD into Uruguay currency on arrival at Montevideo this hotel only accepts USD in restaurant and for hotel payment . Why ? 2. Expensive overpriced restaurant which is probably why it was always empty 3. No tea / coffee making in room, no complimentary water on arrival. Disappointing 4. Breakfast was not well organized and not great either 5. Swimming pool painted black to hide the dirt and sand which is in it. Never saw it cleaned, I wouldn't swim in it 6. Staircase to first floor (steps also painted black !?! weird) needs better lighting and a handrail as a must for safety. This all sounds bad, as in essence this is a nice hotel but it could be so much better with some structure, management and customer service. It's all very well marketing yourself as an exclusive hotel, but then you have to step up to give that level of quality of service.
