Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Astounding luxury hotel in Khiva, with spacious rooms as well as large common areas. Plenty of services, from restaurants (try the “Milano”) and bars to conference rooms and leisure areas, with kind and competent staff.

ItalyThe location of the hotel does not allow you to reach the center of Khiva on foot. The receptionists are helpful in overcoming this limitation by calling taxis.
The room and common areas are modern and clean. Breakfast is good.

Perfect breakfast. It is located 3 km from the old city, but taxi cost app. 1 - 1.3 USD only. The hotel has very good swimming pool which is free for hotel visitors and is open until late evening. The hotel accepts only uzbek money. However, it is easy to change money in the city.

United KingdomThere was a minor issue upon check in and the hotel staff and management went out their way to fix it and make us comfortable, so we cannot be more grateful. Thank you.
The hotel is lovely, a short taxi ride into Old Khiva. The staff are friendly, the reception is large and rooms are large. We enjoyed our stay in Khiva.

United KingdomAll good.
The hotel design was gorgeous, very glamorous and tasteful but with a nod to the old style Madrassa arches. Very spacious lobbys and very big rooms with balconies too. The balcony overlooked the central courtyard which was a very relaxing place to have pre-dinner drinks. The bedlinen was very soft and cosy. Bathroom very comfortable. The food was good too. The Manager asked us how we were, were we happy etc. Pool was lovely as was breakfast.

This is a top 5* class hotel to the last detail. In fact ways better than the Hilton property we stayed in Samarkand.

KazakhstanRooms were extremely hot on the first night. We tried to switch off the aircons and sleep with open balcony doors but it did not help. Trying to solve the temperature problem we found a vertical radiator hidden behind the curtains which we switched off with the help of the hotel staff. Hotel pool needs less chlorine (or whatever substance they use). Hotel's shuttles from the old town are impossible to find - good thing that calling/catching a taxi in Khiva is not a problem at all.
Farovon is a very good hotel, especially for a small town like Khiva and comparing it to other hotels in the town. Rooms were clean and spacious. Italian restaurant was very good. Breakfasts were really good too. Our family enjoyed the pool.

IndiaIt’s not inside or around Itchan Kala. So, you cannot really wake up and walk around or go see the night view or lights whenever you want. It is a 5-7min drive from the hotel.
The nice, big room with a lovely view of the fountain and the sunset. Breakfast was one of the best we had had in Uzbekistan. General Manager, Lola who was on her vacation day with her family stopped by just to say hello and find out how our stay had been. It was great to hear about her contribution to Indian tourism in Uzbekistan. The staff including Maqsad, who took us to Ayaz Kala was one of the best people we met on our trip. He was so good with the kids, with showing us around, taking care of our comfort throughout, almost like family. We had a great time with him.
