Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumOnly the male owner speaks english and isn't always available. Prices are booked in dollars, not soum or euro. During the check-out only the woman was present. Luckily I had some spare dollars on me, otherwise this wouldnt have worked out in time to catch my train.
Breakfast was amazing an balanced. A breakfast to go would be provided for early leavers. Roof terrace is a bonus.

IndiaThe washroom had a smell and remained waterlogged the entire time. The mattresses are also not the best and too squishy.
Very near to the main attractions and the host was a lovely person especially when I talked a bit in Tajik with him

HungaryHad some confusion at breakfast. We were expected to share a table with other guests but it was not clearly communicated. We sat at a separate table and only got a portion of the food we saw the other guests had. The bedroom and the bathroom were both quite small, barely enough space to open a suitcase. Parking in a narrow street was a little tricky.
Loved the cozy inner yard with tapchans to drink complimentary tea and play backgammon on provided boards. The room had authentic decorations and thick warm blankets. A short walk to Registan and to the market, less than 10 minutes each. At check-out we were offered some apples and a melon for the road — all for free.

Belgium. Shower wasn't good (low pressure, broken door, never sure whether it would be hot or cold) . There's a 2.7$ extra fee/person/day that is not announced on Booking. Not sure if it's Booking or property responsibility though.

SerbiaIt could be a matter of taste, but I didn't find the breakfast particularly appealing - it had too many sweet pastries, none of which was particularly good. Furthermore, even though I payed extra for a more comfortable room, it was crammed with furniture so that the extra space was not really felt. Finally, sound isolation could be better.
The place is at a great location, one cannot ask for better, and the owner and staff were helpful.

ItalyThe first room I was given. On the mezzanine on the left side of the courtyard next to the public restrooms and by the big sliding door. The door was open when I got up, the room was obscurated by it, and it was impossible to open the shutters. It felt as if I were in a nice tomb.
The position of the guest house is very good. It is a rambling building with rooms sprouting everywhere. My second room was pleasant and full of light. It was haphazardly decorated with odd items, and rugs covered the floor that sloped to one side, making one feel drunk early in the morning. The breakfast is plentiful but cold because it is prepared on the ground floor and served on the open and windy terrace that tops the building so, by the time they are brought up, food and drinks are lukewarm.

ItalyThe hotel is very close to the Registan and the center of Samarkand, it is very large and located in a quiet area. The internal courtyard is very beautiful and welcoming, and all the terraces of the rooms overlook it, offering a space where the guests can find relaxing. The breakfast is excellent, plentiful, and is served on a terrace with a breathtaking view of the main historical areas of Samarkand. The owner is very kind and precise with our registration, a very correct person.

AustraliaNothing I didn't like but some feedback. For me it was hard when the manager wasn't there as other staff spoke little English. Hard to organise tourist registration slips, to check out etc. My other comment is breakfast. While breakfast is free as it is everywhere, it was my least favourite breakfast i had in Uzbekistan. Mainly because it isn't fresh and had too much sugar. Packaged croissants, packaged cake, sweet bread. Eggs were good but i think fresh vegetable options like tomato and cucumber would be a nice option to have at breakfast as well.
Really nice manager running the place. A nice enclosed place and its close to old samarkand
