The host at Caravan Sarai was incredibly helpful. Khiva was my first destination on my trip through Uzbekistan and he sorted me out with a SIM card, train tickets for onward journey and a wonderful guide in Khiva. The property was very centrally located and comfortable, perfect stay in Khiva.

Amazing location and super stuff. Wonderful yard internally. The 8 is just because in our room the shower should be changed (hot and cold switching randomly and water going on all sides except ok your head). But we really loved it and would return immediately. Thanks.

Because its an converted old building you have to accept that the door frames are very low .... Watch your head!

Much bigger room than I expcted in a prime location near the West Gate of Khiva Old Town. Really wonderful place in a historic building, very polite and helpful staff and owners, very comfortable bed, good WiFi, lovely courtyard, very good breakfast buffet, restaurants and shops nearby. Very good value for money and I can definitely recommend to stay here when visiting Khiva. I arrived at 8am and they offerd an extra breakfast for 50 000 Som and an early check for 10$ , I declined and they let me check in free at 12am ....

The hotel is in an old female madrasah, sleeping in the old madrasah classroom is so unique an experience. The owners are velp polite and helpful, helped us find a very good car driver for our trip to Nukus. Breakfast is good enough for the price. It's the best experience during our trip in Uzbekistan.

If you look for an accomodation with an old spirit close to the old town of Khiva, close to the shops where beer is sold, and close to a good restaurant, this will be your choice. Staying in the cell of an old Medressa is amazing, as well as the breakfast under the dome. Personnel was friendly, helpful and nice, location superb, and the atmosphere and feeling impeccable.

When you come to a country like Uzbekistan, this is the type of accommodation for an authentically local hospitality experience in a historically significant building. Originally a girl’s madrasa, the feel of the place is reminiscent of the better Portuguese pousadas, but quintessentially Central Asian in character. We picked this hotel because my cousin had stayed here a few years ago and recommended it highly. Our room was basic, clean and quite spacious, with the changing area and bathroom set apart in a separate section. Stepping out into that rustic courtyard is a pleasure for the soul and amazing place to wake up to! The breakfast spread was good. The manager Babur was friendly and helpful and always smiling. When my wife became ill from something she had eaten, he personally organised a bowl of freshly cooked rice for her and recommended we focus on a green tea regime until she was better. This is a must-try choice if you are looking for an authentic, no-frills hotel which is memorable in all the best ways and only a stone’s throw from the West Gate of the city.

Room entrance as well as bathroom door have low ceilings and thus slightly inconvenient for tall people who have to be careful but this seems typical of old madrassah rooms. One of the staff appeared unfriendly

Very well located just outside the old town, almost facing the Western gate which seems to be the main entrance to the old town. Ticket office located between hotel and gate. There are two supermarkets nearby, towards the Nurullaboy Palace, where you can stock up on groceries at normal prices. The rooms in this former madrassah have been nicely renovated and decorated. Buffet breakfast with lots of fruits. One of the staff was very helpful and organised all my transport for sightseeing and airport.

Excellent location -- just opposite to the main gate of the old city. As it's an old caravan sarai -- turned into a guesthouse, it has the charm. The staff -- two brothers Timur and Babar -- both spoke English and were always there to help. They took care of my own specific needs to visiting a certain area a few kilometres outside the city too for a reasonable rate.

The toilet seat kept falling off and was never fixed properly. Difficult to take a standup shower & the showerhead was very corroded and grungy.

Nice, quiet Air Conditioner. Comfortable beds. Charming atmosphere. Very friendly & accommodating staff. Good breakfast. The courtyard is a great place to hang out and meet people.
