Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaI stayed one night before my next flight to Almaty. Additional so called City tax was added here for 3 usd. When I checked in, the young man accepted 300.000 Som and he should've given 20.000 change to me because the total amount of charge was 280.000 Som (included the city tax). I thought positively he didn't have the change at the time. When I checked out, I forgot to ask for the change after returning the key. Btw, if you like walking, you can reach tashkent airport on foot from and to this hostel.

DenmarkThe dorm in which I stayed is next to the common area so there was a lot of noise, also during the night. Also, people were smoking on the street outside the window so there was a smell of cigarettes sometimes. Wifi was weak or didn't work a lot of the time.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and nice vibe.

NetherlandsI stayed in the female dorm. Big room but no lockers. The free breakfast was not available each morning, but when it was, it was good. Other facilities are ok. Little room to meet people, and the space that there is was occupied by a big group of visitors that seemed to be there for long stay purposes and not really traveler-keen. For short and cheap stay I recommend it, and the staff was friendly. If you are looking to meet other travelers, I’d look for a place more centrally located.

KazakhstanI don't like some things: 1) As soon as everyone is forced to pay tourist/registration fee, it would be more honest to include it in the price and don't try to seem cheaper than actually it is. Don't like to be somehow cheated and prefer to see clear price choosing the hostel. 2) I think hostel should have soap, it's a basic thing for hygiene, it makes not nice impression hostel prefers to save 5 cents rather than to respect your hygiene. I didn't even know they provide towels (they forgot to offer). Also 1 of 2 women showers has no light so I can't use it because it's too dark. Another one doesn't seem very tidy and iron parts covered by corrosion so it's not pleasant to use it. Just 2 showers (in fact, 1) for huge hostel is too few in my opinion. 3) Wifi is free but the connection is obviously too poor for so many people and from some rooms you can't see the network, internet is unstable and slow. 4) The staff don't offer to take your registration paper when you leave the place. Considering the fact it's critical for police in Uzbekistan is nice to offer this paper showing your care about guests.
It's pretty clean inside and the staff was friendly. The staff really tried their best to do everything properly and on time so it makes good impression. Sometimes it seems not enough people for a pretty big hostel. The breakfast is pretty good and it makes the final price acceptable. You can always make tea or coffee for yourself and it's super nice of the hostel. The room is clean and light, and the kitchen is tidy too. They have nice sitting areas to chill and socialize. Location is a bit far from city centre but there's many shops and cafes nearby which are opened till late.

United StatesBreakfast was very hectic, not enough spaces to eat and hardly enough food (though they keep some in reserve, you just have to ask every time the tiny plates run out).
Nice place, set up as a very backpacker hostel. Good wifi and hot water. Twin room was comfy and quiet, away from the lobby. Easy check-in, English speaing staff. Free coffee and tea throughout the day. Be advised almost all guests when I visited were 50+. So a different vibe than some may be used to.

IrelandThe female manager looked like she hated her life from the second we walked through the door. They demanded we pay $3 a night per person for “tourism fee” and had a very well rehearsed good cop/bad cop routine about it. One staff member would try to comfort us saying that booking didn’t tell us so it’s not our fault, while the manager angrily demanded we pay it. When we finally paid it the manager was all of a sudden very happy and was very conversational with the other staff member and us smiling saying “I’m sorry” and smiling like she just won a prize. If they state the proper price in the booking we wouldn’t be feeling taken advantage of. For only two nights that’s a difference in $12 where we quite possibly would’ve went somewhere else. Don’t even get me started on the amount of people that swarm into the hostel after 5pm like they live there. The indians and bangladesh dudes that pretty much lived there also barely left the kitchen and would take up all the pots and pans while nonstop hitting on my wife every second I left the room. That’s not a reflection on the hostel, just thought any solo female travelers should be warned. All in all if you can go anywhere else I would recommend you do so.
The private room we had came with A/C, one of the staff members was polite, had a kitchen to cook, and breakfast was adequate. That’s about it.

KazakhstanI can't say much, except the location is a bit far a way from the city center. But the taxi is 2-3 dollar max to anywhere, so it didn't looked like a problem. On the other hand, quite close to the airport
I really liked the manager. I had a mistake in my booking where the proposed fee was lower than the price they showed me in reception. But, fortunately, the manager gave us the price that was written in my booking, admitting the mistake. Btw, nice and welcoming stuff is working here. They are used to foreigners. Anyway, I have had a good experience while living here
