The WiFi is a little flaky, and the shower pressure isn't the strongest - but I'd very happily stay here again without a second thought.

All the other reviews are right - the hospitality here is unbeatable. I had such a lovely stay in Bukhara thanks to the amicable and attentive hosting. Location is fantastic, easy walking distance from everything!

Absolutely everything! Incredible location right in the heart of the old town, the room was cute and comfortable with lots of space and privacy. Our hosts were so warm, welcoming, accommodating and generous - always ready with helpful advice, a pot of tea, warm smiles and good food. Jamal even walked us all the way to the bus stop as we were leaving Bukhara to make sure we got on the right bus and paid the right price. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Bukhara!

If you are going as a party of 2 or 3 and its rainy of cold the only shared pace is outside this wasn't a problem for us but just something to consider.

There is a reason most reviews mention the hosts, they are the greatest positive of this place. They know how to make you feel welcome and look after you. Its wonderful to have people look after you when your in an unfamiliar place. the place is also very homey and interesting, a generous invitation to look into what life is like in this wonderful and old part of the world.

The couple hosting us was so sweet and kind, welcoming us with lunch and treating us to breakfast every morning — they were truly the highlight of our time in Bukhara! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the location was incredible, being just a few minutes' walk from most of the city's sights — Po-i-Kalyan Complex, Ark of Bukhara and many more. Thank you so much!

    everything was nice!

the stay was very nice, we felt like we were home, we had the pleasure to have dinner here with local dishes and products, the dinner was cooked by the owners and it was delicious. Definitely recommend the place if you want to feel home and stay with a local family. Also the place is super central and very convenient to walk around Bukhara.

As other reviews state, the guesthouse is in the old city that has narrow alleys, so have your taxi drop you off nearby and then walk. Message the hosts your arrival time, and Jamal will greet you from the main road.

The reviews are accurate - look no further, and book a stay here! You will be treated to a lovely, intimate experience with 2 wonderful hosts - including tasty breakfasts and endless chai. Zafar Guesthouse has been our favorite stay in Central Asia! I had been missing my family, and this stay cured my homesickness because I felt so at home. Also, the location is so close to the sites, we were able to explore at sunrise and sunset - and it’s just outside the tourist spots, so you also have a chance to meet locals when you wander the nearby streets.

If you’re with a car, keep in mind Google Maps isn’t always accurate in Bukhara and make sure to come from the western part of town via Bakhowuddin Nakshbandi street, as you cannot drive through the old town or some of the narrow streets around the property. (Though I have to mention that when Jamal learned we left the car 100 metres away from the door, he was kind enough to offer to walk with us and help repark it even closer)

The hosts were extremely nice and caring! Jamal went out of his way to meet us on the main street and we immediately struck up a lively conversation in Russian. He then offered us some tea on a cozy tapchan in the small garden. We learned a bit about his and his wife’s lives and got plenty of invaluable advice about travelling in Bukhara and nearby sites. In the morning the folks cooked us a breakfast: home-made yoghurt, omelette and fresh melon. A very telling episode is how the hosts respond to feedback. Some guest before us had mentioned the bed felt a little hard for him. Before we went to sleep, Jamal’s wife mentioned that review and told us to try out the beds, so she could line them with a softer blankets in case we also found them too hard. This kind of attitude made us feel extremely cared for, as if visiting own grandparents. And if that’s not cute enough, the wifi password is their youngest granddaughter’s name! Wish we stayed in Bukhara for longer than one day, so we could connect with these lovely people. If we ever go back, we will make sure to book Zafar Family Guesthouse. P.S. If you happen to suffer from an upset stomach while in Bukhara, make sure to ask Jamal about his signature pomegranate infusion! I can confirm it heals the worst of cases in minutes.

    Nothing, all was great!

Jamal and his wife were fantastic hosts, greeting us warmly even though we arrived late at night. They offered us tea and delicious homemade snacks whenever we returned from sightseeing, and the breakfast was lovely - they accommodated us as vegetarians. Jamal even walked us to the bus stop to get the bus to the train station at the end of our stay. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Bukhara.

I would give an even higher rating if I could! This is hands down the best place we've ever stayed at. The guesthouse is in a peaceful area, but at the same time at a short walking distance to all the tourist sights. The family running the place was very attentive to our needs and it felt like we were part of the family. We ended up extending our stay, having a total of 5 nights, and even so the stay felt too short

The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They speak little English but managed to communication clearly. Breakfast is pretty good and you can have complimentary tea all day long. Traditional Uzbek meals are cooked upon request by the lady. Great location - use the address written in Russia to find the place, the location in English is not recognised by Google Maps. The rooms are comfortable and quite spacious. They also have a washing machine and will clean your clothes for you.

I have no idea how this place has got such great reviews, one has to be either blind or they must be fake. This is an old house with very outdated facilities. Nothing in it is bad as such, but on our arrival the hosts have told us the price on Booking was 'fake' and that someone else was scamming them, although they were the only ones to answer on Booking.com and in charge of the app. Hence they quoted us double the price, meaning that they put the artificial low price deliberately. Not that it matters since it's not that much anyway, but the problem for us was not the price but the process of lying, especially since the facilities are much closer to the price first quoted on Booking. Also, unlike written on Booking, there are no rooms with private bathrooms here. It's all shared bathrooms - some of them very cold in winter - that you need to reach downstairs by going down steep steps. The doors in the rooms are extremely low - around 160cm - and there are no signs or anything to prevent you from hitting your head. Such details make for an experience that would otherwise be ok - despite the old facilities - quite mediocre. Beds are comfortable and linen is new. Breakfast is very basic, tea almost undrinkable due to the low quality of water. I think it is the worst tea i have drunk in my entire life. Wi-Fi was working well, surprisingly. Electricity would randomly switch off, there was no back-up generators. ➡️ Gauge your expectations accordingly and double check in advance that the price quoted on Booking is the price you'll pay ultimately.

The pillows were too big and too hard. the beds were quite small (although we’re not really tall). The only light that came into the room entered through the door, so there was no window to open at night time.

The owners are really friendly and try their best to make the stay comfortable. Very good location and good breakfast.
